The interesting bit about that video was Burgess saying Stewart Downing is the quickest player in the squad.
Interesting because of the amount of 'knowlegeable' fans posting in the Downing thread about how slow he is.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

I look forward to see Downing in real action, he may surprise us all. Good video.
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

It is a genuine surprise and I have seen him beaten to the ball ,seemingly for pace, by defenders not renowned for speed. I guess there are many factors that might affect individual incidents. I have to say I was convinced by his highlight reel from last season that he was quicker than I had thought.

I would say though that we have for a long time bemoaned the lack of pace in our squad - so perhaps being the quickest there is not the benchmark it might be.

I think he also ranked highly in one of those ever reliable fastest in the premiership tables too.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Bring back the 100 metre sprint challenge or whatever it was that they used to hold.
I used to play in the same team as John Williams "The Flying Postman" a while back

I posted some comments that George Burley made on the Radio about being quick when fully fit. Perhaps he's had some niggles over the last couple of years.

Fair point, all things are relative.

                  Very interesting that.

Can't believe Lucas has been sending him daily reports on his heart rate while he's been away with Brazil.

Goes to show how dedicated and professional Lucas is and how serious he is about his work.

I think he's pretty quick, but then it's not saying that much when you look at who he's up against. We don't have any real speedsters, do we. Be nice to see a bit more pace in the team

weve lost torres and babel who were very quick but gerrards still there and he can still shift. johnson, kelly and suarez are all speedy too.

interesting stuff about andy carroll, shows he's still got a bit of maturing to do but he's a young geordie so brains are in short supply. keep putting the ball in the net lad.
