When Kuyt and Aquilani came on we actually looked like a football team. Ah well, only a run out for our reserves, actually think it was good that a lot of our better players didn't have to make that trip, hopefully they'll play in Oslo, we get a good result and gain some momentum and confidence ahead of the season opener.
Yes - the commentator said that the second half was a big improvement on the first - thought he was taking the p1ss!!

I suppose on the plus side, we haven't got anyone in hospital with concussion..

Only doubt at the moment is Gerrard..

Still a few Prem teams with players out injured, due to Copa and Friendlies..

All this talk of "its only pre-season, results don't matter, its all about fitness" is nonsense. All the other pres-season games i'm seeing (Man Utd, Chelsea, Barca, Milan, Bayern) are playing most of their first XI's already, with the odd fringe player. They are winning games, getting into a flow and gelling with each other.

Also, why do we never play in any of these competitive pre-season tournements. Surely that is the perfect way to get into the right mind-frame for the start of the season? All the other big clubs seem to be involved in them...

If we don't play our best players in the pre-season games then they will simply not be match fit when the season starts. They can gel etc in training but you can't build up match fitness in training. You need to play games to do that.

If Kenny want to play a lot of players then we should have played more friendlies using different teams in them. Play 15 or 16 players in one friendly one day and different 15-16 players in a friendly a day later.

Some of our players will simply not be match fit when the season starts.

Back in the old Lecter days we had fewer players in the first team so even if we played **** the players still played a lot more than our players done this pre-season.

            They still got match fit.

I seem to remember past analysis has shown that preseason form doesn't correlate to in season form.

My suspicion is that competitive tournaments are no better than other friendlies but potentially the competitive element might result in more injuries. Did we do any better after the pre-season where we played teh Amsterdam tournament?

Have you ever thought of applying for a job at Liverpool?

You clearly know more about fitness for our players than our current fitness coach, you know more about tactics than our assistant manager and you know more about scouting than our current manager, Director of Football and the entire scouting department, your grasp of running the club is better than our current CEO and I'm sure you'd be a better owner than FSG

If we start the season well, what we did pre-season won't matter.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

But Arn I am not the one who has criticised...

FSG for not going the extra mile and buying Aguero

Dalglish/Comolli for only signing British players because he should be buying foreign players who can play "pass and move" football

Dalglish/Comolli for signing Downing over Mata

Criticised Kenny / the fitness coaches for not playing players more frequently in pre-season

Criticised the club for not investing £10 million per annum in the ladies team

The above are only the ones I can remember

Anyone would think that the people that run the club have no idea what they are doing.

You'd have to think they'd get at least one decision right. I mean the law of averages is against all them decisions being wrong and you being correct

In fairness though Lec, you dont criticise anyone at the club. Ever. For anything.

Surely law of averages suggests they must have got something wrong, at some point in life.

In fairness you should perhaps read my posts before making any further comment

I criticised Comolli for dithering last month, I've also been critical of players Cole, Insua etc.....

Still they might be wrong maybe they should invest £10 million per annum in the ladies team because its obviously going to make mega bucks for the club
