No idea - my feeling is though that it would be more than say Soto and we will probably need to trim the wage bill before the season starts. Which means it might be necessary for multiple sales before we went in for him.

I honestly have no idea of the actual values of players salaries I'm just making qualitative statements (or guesses if you prefer ).

I love your honesty. Most would have quoted a figure like it was factual.

We've trimmed the wage bill with Jova leaving but that will be offset if and when we sign Enrique

Joe Cole will be a big saving when and if someone silly enough comes along. Ayala won't be on much so not much of a saving either way really.

If he's available for around 6mil and around £50k/week then its risk free. Bring him in and we can always get money back if it doesn't work out.

I have no idea if that's what he'd be earning so don't quote me on that

But if so, yeah I agree

Liverpool have finally agreed a £5.5m fee with Newcastle for left-back Jose Enrique, The Daily Star reports.

The two sides have been discussing a move for the Spaniard all summer and Enrique’s refusal to sign a new contract, combined with his Twitter outburst towards the Magpies’ hierarchy, has accelerated the move to Anfield. Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is now ready to make the move for Enrique after offloading Milan Jovanovic from his £90,000 a week contract at Liverpool.

Enrique signed for Newcastle from Villarreal in a £6.3m deal in 2007 and has made 119 appearances in a black and white shirt, becoming a firm fans favourite. The Reds are now arranging a medical and personal terms for Enrique to sign and he will become Liverpool’s fifth summer signing to follow Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Alexander Doni to Anfield.
I had no idea he was on that much

It's been discussed on here a number of times, people seem to believe the figure was so high because it included a signing on fee paid on a weekly basis over the first year of the contract, although whether this is true or just speculation we don't know.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

60k basic + 60k/week for the 1st year as a signing on fee.
