Well that's not a huge surprise is it. Lucas went away this week but Spearing and Suarez staye behind, and Spearing has been good in pre-season. Lucas will come on at 3-0 to get with things.

I think one of the interesting things will be how fluid we try to make our attack. Obviously Carroll will be a comparatively static reference around which other people play but Downing, Kuyt and Maxi offer the potential to play either side and Suarez happily drifts all over the show when given the license.

Spearing sounds like a mental selection - you have to think it would mean resting Lucas which just seems baffling. I'd want to see us trying to hit the ground running with a full team. Look at resting people in cup games and after we are in our stride (perhaps for the Norwich game or after?).

Lucas will start.

He wasnt' involved in the friendly game vs Germany and he has been training now for almost 2 weeks.

If Suarez is a very likely to start than Lucas will be there for sure.

My flat mates has two older brothers - the oldest brother -it's his kids 1st birthday.....and his wife has arranged for the birthday party...Saturday at 3pm roflmao


My flat mate has a season ticket - So he just said no ****ing chance....he's going in the morning and leaving midday.....So the other brother who doesn't have a ticket but wants to watch it in the pub has said "if he's not going...I'm not going either...I'll go in the morning with him and go about midday to the pub"

it's all kicking off within the family apparently - as now the dad is saying...er hang on...first game of season...etc etc

I think Suarez will be on the bench; having been at the Copa America he should be in good shape (and buzzing after the win ) but I think the lack of a meaningful pre-season means Kenny will be cautious with him. I'd expect him to come on for the last 20-30mins for a run out and to run at Sunderland's defence once they start to tire.

It would show confidence in the other lads if he did so too
