My point was that they may appeal with similar type of reasoning in mind with intentions of buying time not to reverse the previous decision but I guess there is always the possibility that 2-game ban could be increased as result of the appeal.

We'll have to wait until Monday to know for sure.

You can't look at things like that though, all they can do now IMO is decide that Barton should receive additional punishment if they feel the referee didn't see him pick Gervinho up (which I supect is what will probably happen)

Good point they may want to review the entire incident from the start to the finish cause if Barton didn't "pick up" Gervinho the way he did nothing would've probably happened and the slap in the face I am not so sure he did that deliberately either.

I think the ban is now immediate, a few years ago it too a week or so to come through, but they changed that a few years ago.

I think that's definitely true, as the red card was a straightforward decision (like the one for Kieran Richardson SHOULD have been ), so i'm sure if Arsenal appealed, it would be considered a frivolous appeal and as such, result in probably a 4 game ban. That's the one thing which makes you think Wenger wont appeal it.

The idea a couple of seasons ago was for bans to take effect immediately and any "frivolous" appeals, designed to delay the ban in the way Craig suggests, can be punished like you say.

Although the FA aren't known for consistency so anything might happen.

Yeah, that's how I saw it too. He raised his hands - red card by the letter of the law.
