The idea that Man Utd have an 'average' squad and are '****' etc, is nonsense, to be frank.

Average my arse - most are league winners, which is something we cannot call upon. They've also bought Young who will be good for them, Phil Jones who looks top class and Hernandez who has a year's premiership footy under his belt. As well as the usual crew of Evra, Vidic, Rooney, Nani, Valencia, Giggs, Berbatov etc etc etc.
Happily there are a few chinks in their armour though - De Gea looks frightened, Ferdinand is their Gerrard (injury prone), and the Da Silva brothers are both still reckless.
I'd also say that United's first 35 minutes yesterday is the best section of football seen so far this season.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

The only area which they arent very strong, is CM. And even then, they still have players who have been there and done it, have the experience and can hold their own.
They're very strong up front, strong in wide areas and solid at the back. The keeper could yet prove an issue, but they're undoubtedly the clear favourites.

I think that individually some of their players aren't great, but I think they have a system that works for them and as a result the team is greater than the sum of its parts.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThe idea that Man Utd have an 'average' squad and are '****' etc, is nonsense, to be frank. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

United will be good - they have plenty of pace, flair and technique when attacking - they are well organised, and they have a fear factor, other teams are **** scared of them and they know it. Though, i will point and laugh and make the most of every little mistake De Gea makes
Chelsea - I'd say are still slightly stronger than us....They had Drogba and Anelka on the bench!!! we have nothing like that.
City - if they sign Nasri, well him and silva and aguero really adds their side.....maybe issues behind the scenes and i don't think much of mancini but i reckon they'll be ok and will finish top 3 with Chelsea and United.
Arsenal - bit of a mess there at the moment - wenger really under fire and struggling to contain it - losing nasri and fabregas will be massive blows....they need 3 or 4 players and only have a couple weeks to get them
Spurs - not signed anyone and may lose modric....they'll be top 6 but i reckon it will be us or arse for 4th/5th place.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

That's why they will win the league, and why we'll do well to finish 4th. Cos they have plenty of that and we dont.Originally posted by PTP View PostUnited will be good - they have plenty of pace, flair and technique when attacking - they are well organised, and they have a fear factor, other teams are **** scared of them and they know it. if city sign nasri...they'll have nasri/silva/aguero plus god knows who else
united have nani/rooney/young/mexican lad plus park and valencia who would both walk into our side and berbatov as their plan b
We need another pacy threat - someone strong but quick to offer us something different to Suarez and Carroll - i'm not saying he is the answer, but someone in the Benzema mould.
We also have to get gerrard back, fit and contributing in as many games as we cani own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Well they were certainly extremely average against West Brom. If they'd worn gold shirts they couldn't have looked more like Wolves. One shot on target - Fatboy's goal - in an entire match against a clueless West Brom sums it up really. They were poor all over the park and fluked a two-deflection winner having not had any penetration at all in the second half.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostThe idea that Man Utd have an 'average' squad and are '****' etc, is nonsense, to be frank.

Immediately after our match, I was worried about our chances for a Top 4 finish. Then, after the weekend, with Arsenal looking DIRE, Chelsea with no creativity at all and United being jammy United, I like our chances much better. In other words, I am a complete reactionary.
In fairness, I felt like we were bright with Suarez on the pitch. Once we get Gerrard back I think we should be in great shape as long as he stays healthy. We need to maximize points now, though-- if that's not too obvious.
As I said in the Gameweek 1 thread, the only one who can stop City from being there in the end is Mancini. They have a great run of games to start the season and gain their confidence, so I expect them to manage their season well."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr
