Result imo doesn't reflect our performance.

Thrilled that we won but we were lucky first and foremost.
I don't think anybody is getting carried away, I just think everybody is happy that we have just beaten a team away from home for the first time in eleven years. Don't be soft Nick re the Torquay quip, whilst this Arsenal team weren't the best you'll ever see they still had some damn quality in there.

We all thought we should of beaten them and you know what we did.

As for how we won it, through luck with the first goal, so what, that is what you get sometimes. We all complain about the amount of luck Manure have had over the years well today we got some and we should appreciate it.

Of course there is room for improvement, new players even though they are used to the Premier League have still got to gel to form a team, but all you need to worry about today is the fact that we scored 2 more goals than the Arse and we got the 3 points. Who cares how.

Sunderland got found out today. That's just how football go's, it's hard to make an sort of judgement on any of the teams at this stage imo.

For me, yes we need to do better, but there are good signs there and that's about as good as gets for now, because as i say it's too early to judge a teams season long probable performance based on the first two or three games.

I really enjoyed watching Adam playing today. He can spot a good pass and never looks hurried. Enrique looks extremely good.

Some of our tracking was a bit sloppy but will get better once we gel further.

After they lost Fringpong he had no choice but to go for a win.
Got to agree with Mostar, and disagree with RedReets discussion of our 'negative' match thread.

The reason it was negative was that, largely, until the subs came on, we had a pretty crap game.

You know, it's ok to be critical, even if we're fans. Otherwise they'd be little discussion on here!

I didn't have a problem with starting with Carrol today against Arsenal at home. I thought that was the right tactics. Get their back line to work hard against a physical target man, then put in the freshess second half to run them ragged.

I don't really care he didn't score, or threaten much. The space between him and our midfield was huge a lot of the game. He played a role for the team.

I'm not making excuses for him. I just think tacticly KD and SC got it right. Which needed a player like Carrol to play it.

Sorry mate, I gotta disagree with this too. We certainly controlled more in the second half, and very much so in the last quater, but we were mostly spectators in the first half.

I'm not saying I don't rate Carroll for me its too early to judge but what I am saying is we need to incorporate our better football when he is on the pitch, he did go down a little easy for me, and looked a bit isolated at times but no doubt the talent is in there but just blasting it upto him is not going to get us anywhere.

I also think people who are jumping on the back of Henderson is a bit premature too, did some of you not learn anything from the bashing Lucas got from many fans, and look at him now.

Finally, Kenny is an excellent manager, great strategy today, and even though the sending off helped us, we rested arguably our best player and still got a result, it may not have been a world beating performance but for that we have to be happy.
When Carroll is on the pitch, we take the easy route too often and just launch the ball at him. It's not his fault, but his mere presence on the pitch brings this behavior out. When Kenny took him off for Suarez, he forced us to keep it on the deck and we looked much better. Kenny needs to make it clear that these long balls to Carroll are unacceptable. Carragher is often the biggest culprit.

I think he is. He might not play all the games, but Kenny's gonna give him time at the beginning to find his feet, maybe take him off the firing line at some point during the season. He looks a Liverpool player in the way he keeps the ball. We've got a squad to chop and change a bit now, that was the aim IMO.
                        Are we winning?

Completely agree. We've got to keep the fluid passing and moving, whoever's up front.

Carroll isn't good enough. He has no anticipation, he has no dynamism. Apparently he was supposed to be a big, bustling British CF, old school. He seemed to spend most of his time moaning or on his arse. His first touch his dreadful. Apart from Diouf, on what he's shown, he is the worst we have had up top in a long, long time.

I don't even think he has a Heskey type game in him. His pace seems non existent, his overall game play is lacking, he isn't making runs to make space for others and the way we look for him at every set piece is like something Bolton would do with Kevin Davies ( I would also argue he seems a more complete player). For £35m we have signed a rudimentary player with no finesse, touch or skill. He's a massive let down and a massive downgrade on anything we have had for years.

Wenger is complaining that both goals were offside, I think Suarez's leg was a bit off in the first goal, but in the second one I think was on right?
