Come on if MattTiddler says its a general consensus then it's a general consensusOriginally posted by JHP View PostIs that based on some poll you've done or just a personal view dressed up as something more?. I don't agree with your personal consensus and assume that Clarke and Dalglish wouldn't be part of that consensus either.

Based purely on those who have felt he has not been good enough for us so far on here, it is called context.Originally posted by JHP View PostIs that based on some poll you've done or just a personal view dressed up as something more?. Brilliant team performance today, great spirit and togetherness, and the reaction from the players to the away end at the final whistle was brilliant too.
Jose Enrique was absolutely superb, solid as a rock defensively and produced a few brilliant runs forward as well. Great composure, good technique on the ball and just an all round excellent footballer. £5m, thankyou very much. MOTM.
Suarez made the winning impact, as expected, the sending off helped but Luis Suarez is always going to make things happen
Martin Kelly, lovely solid and assured display, great to see.
Delighted with the midfield trio of Lucas, Adam and Henderson - none of them will get a 'superstar' review but as a collective, they were excellent and made it very difficult for Arsenal to get time and composure on the ball.
Carra was great, some crucial bits of defending in there, and Agger too combined with the other 3 to make a very good back four today.
Dirk worked hard and did well, as did Downing too.
Just an all round efficiently good team performance and the one thing which made me so proud, was the way the lads, as a collective, bossed Arsenal. In their own back yard. Great to see.
This has the potential to turn into a very good start to the season. One game at a time though, must keep focused and level headed. Bolton wont come to Anfield with the white flag waving. Hopefully the kids will go to Devon on Wednesday night and do the job to keep the momentum flowing.

Do you think they deserved to win then?Originally posted by Mostar View PostSame here.
Result imo doesn't reflect our performance.
Thrilled that we won but we were lucky first and foremost.
I thought it was fairly even, but we controlled the game more than they did. It was always going to be about someone either producing a bit of brilliance or a mistake happening. We repelled them superbly and whilst the first goal had a bit of luck about it, you make your own luck by pressing, working and creating a situation that almost forces a bit of luck for you.
I think we deserved to win.

But careful (emboldened bit) you're going to break Mattshark's consensus there.

massive mistake if thats the way we approach it. we can only win 3 trophies, we need to rotate some of the players but we need to avoid going out here. Besides youngsters playing alongside established players always has a better outcome then just putting the reserves out.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostHopefully the kids will go to Devon on Wednesday night and do the job to keep the momentum flowing.
I guess the keeper will change. I'd play Kelly unless Johnson is looking for fitness. Carra and Agger. Same left back, try and get a togetherness about them. Spearing & Raul to start. We don't have many choices upfront if you want to rest Suarez & Carroll. I'd play the big man and get some goals from him. Rest Kuyt, perhaps on a monthly basis.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I think we deserved the win. A good solid performance away from home and against our main rivals for 4th spot.
Dont care that they had so many players missing. There forward line hasnt been diminished that much and they still couldnt get past us. Besides the foul on Agger in our box, that was the closest they came to troubling Pepe.
So what that there missing defenders. Boo ****ing hoo. We are missing one of our best players in Gerrard and the current england right back. **** happens.
Good performance from the lads and GREAT result away from home. What a difference a year makes hey...That's my new book. 'Shut the **** Up, by Dr. Denis Leary'. Patients come in.
