        Very good squad.

Next summer we need just one or two real standout attacking players to come in.

        And maybe a new Gerrard.

Good foundation to build on for the future.

Definitely need a couple of game changers next year for CL competition but this squad should be strong enough to get in top 4 this season.

Shocking, there's not a player in that squad I wouldn't mind seeing turn out for us in the Carling Cup. Apart from Jones obviously.

What a difference to pre-season where there were several names I didn't want to see playing all too often for us.

I've thrown two teams from that list which proves a good strength in depth as I very much doubt we'll see the 2nd team complete although that team would of probably beat us under bodge last year and the more I look at it if we put that team out I would feel confident against most teams, its only the spearing shelvey combo which might worry me

I was going to post that team, but with Kuyt instead of Henderson for a bit of all out attack. It's a team that is capable of getting 4th if we can keep them all fit.

                  We registered 19 players

The Premier League have released the 25-man - or mostly fewer - squads from all 20 teams.

Each club must have a squad containing no more than 17 players who do not fulfil the home-grown player criteria with the remainder - up to a total of 25 - must be home-grown.

A home-grown player means one who, irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21).

Players under the age of 21 (for the 2011/12 campaign those born on or after January 1, 1990) are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players, which explains why the likes of Mario Balotelli are not listed at Manchester City even though he is a part of the first-team.

Everton named just 18 players - seven short of the maximum - in their official squad and - despite much speculation - Wayne Bridge, the out-of-favour left-back, was selected in Manchester City's squad of 24.

I wish Reina would take the number one jersey.

And the number ten is free now too, which also highlights the type of player we currently need.

Also, whilst I'm on the topic of squad numbers, I wonder if the number eight will become as legendary as the number seven when Gerrard hangs up his boots?

I think it will be, think of the 1st player who will take number after him and how much pressure he'll be under

Yup. The best player I have seen in the flesh, I don't envy the person that gets labelled 'Gerrard's replacement'.

The only thing it highlights is that no player has got the number 10 shirt, nothing more.

Only mentally weak players and fans get hung up about a number. It mean's nothing. It's just a bloody number.

As much as I think Harry Redknapp is a jabbering fool, he was right with his treatment of Paulo Futre on his demands for the number 10 shirt.

Complete and utter nonsense. If a player is any good he'll perform well, it's that simple.

It just so happens that we've had sh*t players playing with certain numbers.

                              A number means nothing.

I find this whole thread turning into some weird Derek Acora sh*te.

                              Get a grip guys.
