Albion's assistant manager Mauricio Taricco is in contention to play against Liverpool.
Gus Poyet’s No. 2 could deputise for the suspended Marcos Painter in Wednesday’s Carling Cup third round tie at The Amex.
Taricco, 38, is the natural replacement at left-back for Painter, who was sent off in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Leicester.
Poyet also has a decision to make on centre- half prospect Lewis Dunk. He is a booking away from a ban after picking up his fourth caution in the Seagulls’ first defeat of the season.
Poyet told The Argus: “It’s something he needs to control. I hope he is going to stay on four for a while. Tano is available and now it’s a possibility because of personnel. It’s not an easy situation with the yellow cards.
“It looks like we are a dirty team. We keep getting yellows for fun and that needs to stop.”
Will Hoskins is in contention to face Liverpool after shrugging off a persistent hip injury but Poyet will leave it up to Vicente to decide if he is fit enough for his debut.
The Spaniard travelled to Leicester but was not involved in the 16-man squad.
Poyet said: “We’ll have a chat. If he thinks he is ready to play for a while then maybe he will be involved but I’m trying to leave it to him. He needs to be ready to jump on the pitch and perform.”
Poyet must also weigh up whether or not to give starts to Liverpudlian duo Craig Noone and Alan Navarro on Wednesday, with Leeds visiting The Amex in the Championship just 48 hours later.
The Uruguayan added: “I know how excited the players are about Liverpool and it’s going to be difficult not to make that extra effort you normally do in these kind of games. I am not going to try to control that, I am going to try to make sure I make the right decisions on the squad.
“Of course, the important thing is to win on Friday. Saying that, you cannot give the game against Liverpool away. I think the players will enjoy playing this kind of game on TV (Sky), to show why we are so good and in the position that we are in.
