    Looking back

i imagine i am in the minority but do you think as supporters we are too fond of looking back?

things like automatically thinking ex players would be good coaches, sami would be great back up etc.

    there are more and more.

when we were at the top of the game we looked forwards and that is part of the reason why we were top was that forward looking attitude.

we should acknowledge our past and be grateful for it. I just wish we were more forward looking as fans.

i expect to be shot down in flames on this

Most football fans tend to think similarly.

For example, loads of Arsenal fans at the moment want Steve Bould & Martin Keown to become defensive coaches at the club.

Barcelona gave a rookie ex player in Guardiola the manager's job, the Mancs have Mike sodding Phelan as Bacon Face's no.2 and Brian McClair is on the coaching staff, etc.

I know that's only part of your point but still.

I think it depends purely on the individual. For every Guardiola there's a Souness or, God forbid, a Staunton.

Wanting hyypia back is more that e was one of the best centre backs in the world for a decade. He couldn't play for is now but he must have enough knowledge to be a useful coach.

But yes, fans of teams who win lots of shut don't really need to look back in the same way generally.

For every one post about Hyypia theres 50 daily saying how we should sign Cahill so I'm not getting your point on this one. It's just an internet forum and we've had 10s and 10s of brilliant players, managers and trophy wins so of course people will look back.

I dont think Kenny and Comolli search here for opinions on how to run the team so im not sure why it'd be such a problem anyway!

Your tarring of the whole fanbase because bender suggested signing Hyypia is also a bit odd!

Until the stoke game, we were all verily looking forward to what the future might bring. In fact we have been since Kenny took charge.
                Oh I don't know.

I think it's a nice idea to have ex-players come back, but I only want them here if they're good enough.

You see calls for Gerrard and Carragher to manage LFC one day and I shudder at the thought of it to be honest.

Put it this way, if we didn't look back, we wouldn't have Kenny as manager now.

Nowt wrong with looking back fondly mate, however, I think it gives some fans a level of expectation which is patronising towards other teams. This weekend was a prime example, Spurs are clearly better than us at the moment and more likely to finish above us than t'other way round. Do our fans applaud them or attempt to undermine them, the latter of course. Collectively, we show very little respect for any team and expect their position above us to be temporary. That includes Utd

why? gerard is one of our greatest ever players - not top 5 IMO but defo top 10 - and the training / tactics / man management he will have picked up and had instilled in him from houlier / rafa / the king plus internationally with capello etc.. would stand him in great stead to be our future manager. add the boost and pride it would give yuongsters playing for him - the same feeling as he himself will get playing for kenny - and i think you have the ideal future gaffer. same applies to carra - although IMO carra will defo be our future manager whereas gerard is only a slight chance . . . . . bringing back the old and very very successfull boot room tradition!!
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

the boot room wasnt the reason for success.

the reason was the correct people. we were lucky that we happened to have the right people within the club.

"we were lucky that we happened to have the right people within the club" or in other words . . . the boot room - where we instilled the lfc way, tactics, etc...into them, moulded them and basically made them into who they were. thats not luck and thats what i see gerrd or carra being especially with kenny back.
