I feel bad for dirk because he's been one of our best players over the last 3 years and with the new change in management there's obviously a change in direction. He's not an automatic first choice anymore and its a shame because he's not let anyone down.

its a squad game and he;ll get his chances. Its strange to see carroll starting because we play better without him. Anyway, i guess you cant leave a 35m striker on the bench unless you're man city.

I dont think Kenny has any qualms about leaving Carroll on the bench. But the fact is, the only way he can possibly improve and become an asset, is by playing. He wont improve by sitting on the bench.

its unfortunate for andy that the team plays better without him. For a marquee signing to know the team doesnt need him isnt good for his confidence but results matter and he's had games where he's looked gash. unless he starts scoring goals or setting them up you cant make a case for him.

Yup, both Kuyt and Bellers will spend a lot of the time on the bench, unless Carroll doesn't show improvement.

My point was that Kenny is clearly happy to start Carroll upfront, rather than having it forced on him by Bellamy's lack of fitness - because if he didnt want Carroll starting, Kuyt could easily have been selected.

He probably should be but to be fair to Kenny, he's trying to give big Andy every chance to get going.

We need to see some signs of promise from the big man today. It's time to shine, i said it before the Spurs game and it blew up in my face, but i'm going to say it again... I fancy Carroll will do well today, i think he'll score.

My point was that Kenny is clearly happy to start Carroll upfront, rather than having it forced on him by Bellamy's lack of fitness - because if he didnt want Carroll starting, Kuyt could easily have been selected.

I think Bellamy/Suarez partnership is presently offering much more than Carroll/ Suarez but Bellamy's inability to play twice in a week is preventing that.

That said, this is a very good opportunity for Carroll to start his season.

Playing at home vs mediocre team hopefully he'll score few times.

In terms of Kuyt, I have stated many times before the season that I cannot see hm being regular this year but he'll play lot of games regardless due to injuries and suspensions.
