Any permutation from the late 80's that excluded Ronnie Whelan from our midfield would be asking for trouble

I remember him playing at Anfield early on in his Newcastle career and Whelan completely owning him for the whole 90 minutes

Gazza got very frustrated and was kicking out at opposition players and moaning at his teammates when he/they missed a pass

Convinced that we passed on him after seeing his behaviour that day

We didn't really need him. If he was needed, it didn't show. He was finished by 1991 anyway.

Laudrup was a proper miss, he really would have been the natural successor to Dalglish.

An absolutely terrible blunder to 'swoop' for Glen Hysen instead of buying Pallister.
