He is only going to get fit if he plays games. Id rather he did it against someone like Norwich than a bigger team.

Every league game is important as the last, regardless of opposition. If he needs match fitness then the ressies is for that.

It's not like Kelly isn't an able deputy. He's been playing better at RB for quite some time now, usually down to fitness & Glen being at LB.

Ohh I dont doubt Kellys ability. I think Johnson is better though. Infact he is one of the best RB's in the league when fit. But I think he should get game time now. I get that every league game is important too. But I dont think the Reserves serve as good enough to get a player match fit. The standard of football there is pretty poor, he wont be doing as much work.

Maybe we need to ease him back in like we did with Gerrard. He looks stronger than ever right now because of the break and his management back from injury.

Yeah half an hour run outs & a start against Stoke would be the best for now. A fully fit Glen Johnson could transform the side. With the right midfielder seemingly being tucked in the width has to come from somewhere on that side, and he can certainly provide that.

I would drop Downing. The squad is built to play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, not 4-4-2.

No chance that Coates will play but I would play him instead of Carra.

We now have a few "easy" games and that means that now is the time to ease Coates into the starting XI. Then he will be ready when we play the more difficult games.

I do have a feeling that it will be Carra and Skrtel at the back

Would like to see us really go for it in attack in this one. Win by 3 or more goals would give us a lot of confidence. For that reason I'd start with Bellamy, Suarez and Gerrard.

i'd be tempted to see henderson start in central midfield. i think he will link well with gerrard and i hope i could say the same for gerrard and carroll because those two havent had alot of playing time together. If that combo clicks, it could be deadly...gerrards 5 times the footballer kevin nolan is and the latter was a big factor in andy's successful goal scoring streak for newcastle last season.

Having said that i don't think adam or kuyt should be dropped, i think the team create more chances with kuyt in the team, hes made that right sided position his again this season when there was doubt about whether he would and deserves to keep it, its his to lose.
i'd like to see bellamy start over downing but i don't think it will happen. also think this game comes a wee bit too soon for glen and agger after they played against rangers and are coming back from injury....would love to see johnson come on around 75 mins though could make a real impact off the bench.

suarez on the left is not ideal but i think he could do the job against Norwich , could also mix and mtch with gerrard and kuyt throughout who have both played on the left side for their respective countries. i think kenny will play 4-4-2 though with downing on the left and gerrard beside adam and suarez and andy up front

I'd switch Gerrard and Henderson in that combo as Stevie is the better defender and can influence the match from anywhere whereas Hendo has younger legs and can apply pressure with his work rate. Stevie will still get forward when needed as will Adam but I wouldn't be comfortable if Adam bombed on leaving Hendo minding the fort but defo be confident if SG was covering.

Henderson has played In a holding midfield role before, I'd imagine they could swap positions a fair bit, I think an important aspect of any great team is there ability to hold shape whilst also not being solely defined by there set position, I take your point but I think gerrards attacking skills will be needed more than his defense against Norwich, either way i can't wait for the game
