IMO he is bent. He clearly did the two previous Bradford owners a favour when he didn't do a proper investigation of what happened.

Thanks to that they got a lot of insurance money etc and didn't need to pay for the new stadium and could later sell the club making a profit.

Popplewell even opened the new stadium

    Money, money, money.........

He is probably again doing someone a favour.

I don't think that's clear at all in reality.

It is only my opinion and you know what that usually mean

I do find it strange that he didn't do a proper investigation and that he opened the new stadium.

How many times have you heard about a Judge opening a new stadium?

Football hooligans was the route of all evil in those days. Bradford was blamed on a cigarette, rather than efficient crowd control. It took more than 4 years and 96 dead at Hilsborough as well as 39 dead at Heysel for us to get the blame for what was blatently obvious for all football fans...

...stadiums and infrustructure then was not able to deal with the crowds these stadiums could hold.

I wasn't intending to have a go. With these kind of things it's easy to question the findings, but the remit of the investigation is unknown.

No idea about the stadium opening bit bit would suspect there was some kind of sentimentality involved.

Fletcher, now an accountant, also wholly rejected Popplewell's assertion that "a sensible compensation scheme" was organised after Bradford. In fact, there was a charitable disaster appeal, no organised compensation scheme, and his mother, Susan, took a negligence action, which she had to fund herself, against the club and West Yorkshire county council, for its safety oversight of Valley Parade.

In the high court, both were found to have been negligent in allowing litter to build up over many years under the void of the club's wooden main stand, and to have done nothing to clear it despite explicit written warnings that it was a fire risk. Two years later, the club were found to be two-thirds liable, the council one third.

Popplewell, in his report, wrote that his task was "not to allocate blame", and that he was sympathetic to the club, saying that lower division football was "run on shoestring".

And then got an insurance payout for the loss of assets despite being negligent.

Cant see you getting an insurance payout on your house if you blew it up in some crazy alchemy incident

"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

The guy was am idiot for saying what he said last week.

There's no point in using selective quotes out of context to add weight to the 'he's an idiot' sentiments.
