We only have Lucas as a real dm. Spearing is not good enough to play week in week out if Lucas gets injured.

AC may turn into a good/great player for us, but my feeling is we could have spent the 35mill more wisely at the time.

No, but I wouldn't want him to play over players who I think are superior either.

That's the problem, he's had a few decent chances late in games when he's come on as sub, and missed them (for which he's got some stick). I think if we play him and create chances for him he'll miss a few but I think he will also get goals, which yesterday I thought Suarez aside, no-one looked like scoring. Kuyt was playing up front, but I can't remember him having a decent chance to score.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Your 4231 idea falls a bit flat when you consider that Kuyt and Suarez both vacate the centre and drop deep/wide etc, leaving us without a central attacking focal point.

I'm fine with 4-2-3-1. But Not 2 Holding Midfielders.

Under Rafa each of the 3 key Midfielders had a defined role type.

              Masch, Xabi and Gerrard

We could easily do that now. Lucas, Adam (Maybe even Henderson), Gerrard.

But as Craig Stated. 2 Holding midfielders against weak opposition and we really are in trouble.

I think Suarez could play centrally as long as we have good movement around him, he did well with it last season.

Cant ever imagine Suarez holding position as the main target man - it's just not him. One of his biggest assets is his movement, his ability to drop off or wide, find space and create havoc. Why ask him to stop doing that? Doesnt make sense.

I don't think it would stop him doing that, he wouldn't have to be static in that position.

Not static, but he'd need to be IN the middle - we saw it yesterday plenty of times, he goes wide, puts a ball into the box and no ****er is there.

We dont need Suarez playing as a 'target man' or lone striker, it wouldnt work.

We need two strikers working in tandem that have an understanding of eachothers game.

As I said though, intelligent movement from the wider players and from the attacking mid could compensate for that.

4-2-3-1 worked for us in a big way due to Torres (as well as Alonso, Gerrard, et al). If you're playing with one up front you need someone who's got it all, and especially someone who's going to take their chances

I dont think you're grasping the fundamentals of the target man in a 4231 system.
