I enjoyed that too.Originally posted by wiw View PostI thought our second goal was brilliant. Great ball by Lucas with the outside of his foot, great first-time
pass from Suarez. Lovely to see a fluidity to our play.
I liked how we were happy to pass it around the back for ages and ages in the first half - we did it with a bit of swagger at times - it never really got us anywhere but it must frustrate the **** out of WBA

Yep, no arguments now. 135 minutes without conceding in his absence, if people are being picked on merit then Agger & Skrtel have to start against Swansea. Would be totally wrong for Carragher to walk back into the side. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Coming back to this, while I get your point about criticism seemingly becoming habitual, you have characterised the position in order to mock it. 'Half the team passengers' bares little resemblance to the actual posts. I picked this up with Neil in the match thread a little. The back five, Lucas and Suarez got nothing but praise as far as I recall. And the others were mostly judged pretty fairly as part of the running commentary. The odd 'x is ****' post is often unfairly taken to suggest a wider negativity. The criticism is being overstated in order to mock it.Originally posted by dww View PostI find it incredible that we seems to create a lot of chances yet after every game people seem to claim half the side have been passengers. There remain a lot of flaws in the team but I can't help feeling that some people have become locked in to particular views which don't allow them to see beyond the faults they see in some individuals.
There's a form of playing to the gallery going on, particularly in match threads. Somewhat ironically, in condemning the odd sweeping statement about a player or the team, people respond with sweeping statements about the attitude in the thread, even site.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Great wasn't it. Obviously it's not the kind of goal we'll score against teams parking a bus at Anfield, but killing teams off as been as big an issue for us recently. We did that really well yesterday, and at the perfect time.Originally posted by wiw View PostI thought our second goal was brilliant. C'mon Craig, I think we've all seen enough football to realise managers play players to either, a/ find some form, or b/ they stubbornly want to prove they didn't make a mistake in the transfer market.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostKenny knows what he wants from Henderson and Downing and if he keeps picking them, he must think they're warranting their place, by virtue of them doing what he's picking them to do.
I'm not suggesting it's the latter, just it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Kenny is playing them to build their confidence and not put any media attention on them by 'dropping' them.

Lot's of talking about not being clinical which to a point is fair enough but I'd worry more if we weren't creating chances and we are, a lot of them - perhaps some should look at the positives 3 points, clean sheet, beating the Bodge and being closer to our rivals rather than pulling apart performances which after we've won in that manner seems a little pointless

I think that the people responding with sweeping statements about the attitude in the thread are probably responding because the odd 'x is ****' post is more often 'x is ****, y is **** and z is ****' and x, y and z tend to be our three new players and those who are posting they are **** most probably are those who didn't want them to be signed.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostComing back to this, while I get your point about criticism seemingly becoming habitual, you have characterised the position in order to mock it. I do wonder how some people who wanted a certain German CB to be signed would be reacting to his so far abysmal start to his career in England. I'm sure their posts would not have been 'x is ****', I'm sure they would of been 'x needs more time' (which IMO he does) but because they didn't want who we have signed they comment accordingly.
We have played 10 games in the league so far, 10 and results wise we are 8 to 10 points better off compared to the same fixtures last season. Yes I would like us to be doing even better but I believe our start bodes well for the rest of the season especially as we tend to get better as the season goes on.

Good result, I'll take a 2-0 win every day of the week.
Barely moved out of second gear too - there was a period of time in the second half where WBA couldn't get the ball and were hardly chasing. Was almost like a training session.
We've got to stick with Skrtel and Agger going forward now, Carragher has been our weak link at the back for a few seasons now. Yet Skrtel is playing really well right now and Agger is just class. Thought Johnson played well - we're very lucky to have the RB position covered for what should be years to come with him and Kelly.
Adam had one of his better games for us, Henderson played well and had a few nice one-touch passes. Downing... not for me. Carroll is still improving and that goal should build his confidence.
Happy with that. Could've been a tricky game. Win next week and it'll put us in good stead for the Chelsea and City games.

Even better is that the players hardly had to break a sweat. Three points at a canter and resources saved for more pressing encounters to come. Double bubble

West Brom put in a typical Hodgson performance. Stood off us, did nothing, completely crap.
A year ago that would have been us.
I'm so glad we won and even more glad that tw*t is somewhere else.
OK, that's the sounding off done, now back to my warm glow of serenity this morning.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Either that or expectations are simply ridiculously out of control. Or probably some of both..

I think it's a hell of a lot less weak than relying on the dubious judgement of self-appointed internet critics whose knowledge of football is unproven and probably virtually non-existent when compared to someone who has been involved at the highest level of professional football for about 40 years.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostNo, it is, it is saying well Kenny says so, so it is right. Sorry but that is a weak way of arguing a point.
So come off it, you know about arguments from inference as well as anybody. If you have an alternative interpretation (I'm sure there are some) as to why Dalglish is picking him then I'd be interested to hear it. If it's simply the old chestnut of "I could be right and Kenny could be wrong because he's not perfect" then thanks but I reckon his chances of being right are significantly higher than yours (or mine or anyone else's on here)..
