We aren't creating easy tap in chances but very few teams do. Didn't someone post some stats on the number of 'clear cut chances' we created? I can't seem to find them but I thought they suggested that we were creating alot of clear cut chances certainly the amount we created were comparable to the top sides, but our finishing % was really low.

I think you misunderstood, the chances we creating are not always easy ones or ones you are even likely to score with and most of it still comes from just one player, we are a really 1 dimensional team in attack at present.

Although Andy did miss from 6 yards yesterday. You can't
Miss the easy ones when your labouring like we are.

According to those stats only Man Utd and Man City create more clear cut chances than us

We created a clear cut chance every 37 mins compared to Man Utd one every 29 mins and Man City one every 30mins.

The difference being we score only 22% of them, compared to Man City who score from 50% of their clear cut chances and Man Utd who score 41% of their clear cut chances.

I'm curious to know what OPTA's definition of a clear cut chance is.

We don't play as a team, that is the big problem.

It is up to the manager to correct that. I read in another thread that we only had one goal threat a couple of years ago. That is simply not true.

Gerrard and Torres was injured a lot but we still scored a lot of goals. The reason was that we played as a team. No other team on the planet played as organized as we did. Like Rafa's Valencia but scoring more goals.

Can anyone really say that we play organized football this season? I can't.

We don't play as a team. We are back to the Houllier days when Owen made all the difference. Now it is Suarez.

We must start playing as a team or we won't stand a chance.

I will be very surprised if we get more than 0 points against City and Chelsea. I doubt that Kenny will play three in the middle against City and Mancini will most certainly do that. Two against three in the middle, midfield lost and zero points.

How we will get any points away against Chelsea I don't know.

After that we could be almost 10 points off fourth. Then suddenly every game the rest of the season would turn into a must win game. I doubt that we have the mentality to cope with that.

from now on I will skip talking about our finances. That is a promise and will save myself from looking like a

I think most of our chances are good scoring chances that we consistently fail to convert.

That said, there is no debate if we live or die without Suarez.

Anything good and decent, for the most part, comes from him and our sole reliance on him to produce and score is becoming very concerning.

i often think that our play is almost a case of too many cooks. it looks like everyone's trying to do it all, and therefore nobody's doing anything. we bunch up and then there's nobody to pass to. there was a time when a ball went into the box and suarez, lucas and someone else were all in there trying to get on the end of it, which sounds positive, except they wound up all stumbling on each other. they didn't set up a triangle, nobody went to their spot.

I guess it's just a measure of a 'good chance' rather than counting total numbers of shots. I don't think it matters much how it's defined for this context, it just shows that we are creating alot of chances compared to other teams and missing a high proportion of them.

What I've noticed is the amount of hopeless balls we send into the penalty area as opposed to try and build up play with one/two touch football. Then, as someone said, we don't seem to have enough players in the penalty area to play the percentages that those crosses can bring. I think the fact that our formation is less compact than under Rafa leads to this as there are too many gaps between our lines, meaning there's too much ground to cover and link up a consistent pattern of possession football. Staying compact with less space between our lines gives us the ability to put pressure and prevent the opposition from building up their play. We've allowed Swansea to do that yesterday.
                          Are we winning?

I would have to disagree there mate, with out knowing what they call a clear cut chance it is hard to judge how reliable the OPTA measure is.

I kind of agree with Exiled red. Whatever kind of chance it means, it means we're creating lots of them, and unless the definition is '**** chance' and what it defines is usually beneficial for teams, then it suggests we're going something right. We're just not making 'it' count.
