    Badge redesign?

    TheAnfieldWrap THE ANFIELD WRAP
We haven't had sight of it, but apparently, to coincide with the Warrior kit deal, there's been a badge redesign for 11/12. Think Bruges '78

Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I dont know what Id think about that. What with the flames and all. I could lose the gates design, but the flames are a nice reminder. Mind, if its a badge redesign, i suppose itll be fine. Especially if they keep the current as the club crest.

I thought the thread title said "Bodge Resigns" at first.

I much prefer the simple liver bird for the kits. And I prefer the 80s full badge to the current one. I understand why they changed it though.
        Oh I don't know.

Doesn't this boil down to copyright though?

The simple liverbird can't be copyright as it's an emblem of the city, while our current club crest is copyright as it incorporates other components - gates, flame etc.

This badge isn't what we need.
              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Didn't we work some kind of shared rights with the city council in the end, so we could better protect our merchandise from being ripped off?

I think the old 78 badge with flames someone knocked up last year would do very nicely.

Yea, Im sure we did last year. Something about the Liverbird and the word 'Liverpool' being trademarked. Just to protect the club. I dont think it was done to take anything away from the city.

Maybe the Flame will go on a sleeve or the top/back of the collar.

Maybe the gates will go at the top/back of the collar in small print?

The liverbird for LFC and the council are different designs.

Anyone can use the liverbird, but you can't use THAT particular liverbird design.

The non league team AFC Liverpool use a liverbird but it had to be a new version of the liverbird not just a replica of LFC's.

The club charter has also been changed to now read the "all replica kits have a minimum lifespan of one season"

New home kits every year when warrior come on board it seems.

I always thought it was Premier League law that you had to keep a home kit for 2 seasons?
