    Man City build up

Kicking on from Chelsea, a win here could do wonders for our season. The confidence and belief in the squad would be sky high, this game has come at the right time.

How will Kenny line up after the pleasant surprise at Chelsea? I would like to see the same team but I can see Downing maybe coming back in for this. The back four must not change though, keep them together for as many games possible. We can do this, come on Redmen.

Damn, can one of the mods move this to the main forum please.

I would go with the same team, I mentioned it in the Chelsea post match thread, but I think that players like Bellamy and Maxi are more suited to a quick, short, one touch passing game than Downing and Carroll. I'd like to see us stick with that approach and keep Downing and Carroll as plan B. The high tempo, high pressing game suits the big games so I'd stick with the same team.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Like Chelsea, City have defenders that can easily handle Carroll's threat. However, they're not so good with pesky midgets.

              MIDGETS FTW!!!

I think Kenny is sensible enough to keep the same team based on that first half against Chelsea. Hopefully we can maintain more focus in the second half.

Not meaning to pick you particularly up on this (and it's probably not the ideal place) but I'm really sceptical about this "lack of focus" idea that seems to be becoming entrenched as an explanation for things.

If I can paraphrase your statement, an alternative way of looking at it is this:

"Hopefully our opponents won't make changes at half-time to overcome our first half dominance and if they do then either they won't work or Dalglish and Clarke will quickly make the necessary the counter-adjustments so we can continue to dominate as we did before the break."

Certainly, as people (including me) have pointed out before, there have been plenty of times this season when we have dominated the first half only to sacrifice the initiative, never to regain it. To me what was important about Sunday was not that a top six Premiership team managed to find a way at half-time to come back into the match (really, can we reasonably expect anything else?) but that the management team found a way to address this new situation and so we ended the stronger and got the victory we deserved from our display over the full ninety minutes.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

They're going to kop it on Sunday.

I am worried that Mancini will expect that and try to overrun our midfield, maybe we need an extra body in midfield for this one, with three of Maxi, Bellamy and Luis starting
