I dont think there was much wrong with our play against Fulham. IMO Bellers was a bit off the pace so my only change is Downing whom I thought had a great cameo.

EDIT: Kelly for Johnson too. Johnson was all over the place defensively. Dammit I've changed my mind again... Johnson gets to keep the spot - he had little protection in front of him.

Of course we will need to replace Spearing and the best I can come up with is Aurelio. He has played the postion well before and IMO there are no great alternatives.

I'm not fond of playing 3 at the back and I don't want to use Agger as a DM either as he is brilliant in the back four.

Thought the mods were putting a filter on Skittles.

          Neil, sort it out.
          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think in the Fulham match we lacked a real defensive midfielder, to play the role normally played by Lucas (who was cleraly missed). I thought Spearing would play that role, but I think that he played a bit higher up the park than Lucas does leaving a bit of space between the midfield and the defence. I think he can adapt and play this role, I think the Fulham game highlighted his inexperience. But with him out for the QPR game it's unclear who will play this role.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Spearing was told to play higher. I think Kenny knows we can't replace Lucas with a like for like, so thats why we went 433 the other night. I think our style will be more open, but at the same time our attacking needs to be up to scratch. we need to start scoring 2 goals a game if we want any chance of moving up the table.

The idea of playing a more attacking formation is fine in principle, the problem being we don't seem capable of scoring goals. If we play a more attacking formation and leave space for the opposition, whilst failing to take our chances we're going to drop alot of points.

IMO we need to at least attempt to play someone in the Lucas role; breaking up play and denying space for opposition midfielders to run at our back 4.

I think spearing is the nearest we have. but if we were struggling to win games with lucas it stands to reason we're not going to get better without him. therefore the focus of the team will have to change slightly. roles will be a little different than before. but yes, if we don't start scoring we are ****ed.

I'd love to but MrM likes calling him Skittles so he has vetoed a filter on this one. Of course he doesn't really have a veto but Paul says MrM is useful for all the mundane work like avatar cropping so wants to avoid him getting into another of his strops and flouncing off like Ferguson in a press conference. Of course eventually he'll be distracted by something else and we'll be able to introduce the filter but it's just a question of waiting.

In the meantime I'm afraid my paws are tied on this.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

It's useful if certain people don't realise their position in the hierarchy is nothing more than symbolic.
