    Giles Barnes

    Everton are set to challenge Liverpool for the services of Derby teenager Giles Barnes. (Sunday Mirror)

    So we're in for him huh? I've seen little snippets of the kid in action and he looks a real prospect - he scored a howitzer of a volley last week. A mate of mine is a Derby fan and he is raving about the lad. I think he's a forward, as opposed to an out and out striker. A big six footer with good technical ability.

    Anyone know more about him and/or this link? He's got the right surname to be a Red anyway...

        im very happy to see us being linked with him...the kids gonna be a great player.....bank on it. Does it say how much they want for him?


        now if only we can nab Rosenior as a understudy for Finnan.

          Not sure about Rosenior myself.

          I've lifted that from the BBC's "gossip round-up" and I don't buy papers anymore, so I've no idea about a fee or even the validity of this link.

          Still, it's nice to see us being linked with up and coming English players. I thought we missed a trick with Huddlestone from Derby (I still fancy the lad to become a very, very good player) so I for one hope we can snare this kid.

            Derby is a hotbed for talent at the moment. Holmes the young winger started off well and they have Nytanga (I think thats the right spelling) the welsh defender. Add Barnes to the mix and you have some promising young players.

              Barnes is a gun, for his age he is leaps and bounds ahead. He would be our answer to Walcott.

              Barnes and Bale would be great to have in our side. Both guys are young and nearly ready for first team football.

              Rosenior has impressed me everytime ive seen him play. He would be a good signing IMO. Its just wishful thinking mind.

                  Never heard of this lad before today. But that was impressive, scored two belters there, one with either foot.

                  We could do with more English/British signings I reckon. If Bale and Barnes and the like are good enough, lets have'em here.

                    We should be doing everything in our power to get these two guys. They would set us up for the next 10 years.

                    I really hope we can get Barnes, i havn't seen us linked with him before.....so im excited now. Bale isn't needed just yet, but he would be very handy to have in the ressies and pinch hitting for Riise on occasions. While were talking about young talent Micah Richards would be good aswell

                        in all honesty, you may laugh but Everton are quite fancied and he is more than likely to play for Everton quicker than at Liverpool.

                          I'm not so sure. It depends on how good he is. If he's the business he could very easily become our 3rd choice forward.
