Quick Question - Are you a Liverpool FC fan first and Football 2nd ?

This popped into my head the other day.

I would say I am a football nerd, I am definitely a football fan first and Liverpool fan 2nd. I know its a chicken and egg type of Question, is it even possible just to love Liverpool FC ?

This question probably does not make any sense

I think you have to fall in love with football first, no?

I mean...now I care massively about LFC while my interest in football generally has waned a bit. It's definitely LFC first, but when you're a kid surely you have to fall in love with football first?

Considering I've at times watching recordings of our reserves while CL matches or Internationals are on, I must be an LFC fan 1st.

My dislike of International football would also point to this, as it would with a lot of our fans.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I couldn't give a **** about any other teams or players until linked to us, so LFC first without question...

As a kid i loved international football, now i couldn't give a ****. I think its down to club football being stronger now and my general dislike for most modern footballers.

I love football and end up watching all sorts of games but my love for LFC is far greater than football itself now.

Probably as a kid though it was the game itself rather than the club but that's changed over time. I mean I'll watch England play but I really don't if they win or lose (I'm sure I would if we won the Euro or WC) whereas everytime LFC plays it's important, even the friendlies we play pre-season!

I love the game first and foremost, I dearly love our club and mores the point what I perceive our club stands for and is all about. Its the principals and stand up type people this club is generally linked to that makes me love LFC, but without my love of the game, it might aswell be a Knitting Team

                  great question

I am a massive massive red. I love Liverpool as much as anything....but if there was no football, there'd be no liverpool - and i love football as a sport....i love playing it, i love watching it, i love reading about it, i love playing computer games of it.

so I think there is 3 types of supporter/fan - whilst i think you may get people who will say

"i love Liverpool, but don't love football" - i can kinda understand that....it could be due to family or 'location' reasons that someone loved LFC, but wasn't really interested in football.

                  and then you will get

"i love football, love playing it, i 'support' liverpool, but it's more just a team that I follow as opposed to having any real affection for anyone"

                  and finally

"i love liverpool and i love football" - i am most defo in that category - i think it is fair to say that you can love both mutually

I take as much joy as scoring a goal in five a side, as i do in watching liverpool scoring a goal - obviously relative to the importance of each.

However, nowadays i'd probably put liverpools success ahead of mine....

I'm nearly 30, i've more or less retired from 11 a side, i've played in good teams, i've played in big matches and won leagues and cups and i'm passed the poitn where i am going to get any more glory if you like - so if you were to ask

Would i rather liverpool won the league or I could go back to 11 a side and play at the highest standard i could and have an outstanding season and win everything I could.....I'd pick Liverpool everytime, because i'm happy with what i've got from my own experiences.

very good question though - hard to answer and compare the two.
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

another way of looking at it is...

If liverpool ceased to exist tomorrow - just wiped from all our memories....what would you do....

I'd still watch/play football, but would just have the that extra passion/love of being die hard fan of a team missing.

i'd cope, but it wouldn't be the same

I loved the game first and that love for football led to love for LFC.

I still play quite regularly coz I love the game itself, which is irrespective of my club/national team affiliations.

I used to be a football fan, in the sense that i'd watch almost any football. But that was when i was younger. Now, whether i like it or not, i very rarely watch any football match that doesnt have a direct impact on the fortunes of LFC.
