    Different types of football though

I havent seen a LFC side create as many chances as we have done this season for a long time (probably the Evans era was the last side to do this)

      Aye.

We just need to buy someone to convert on those.

I don't see us creating that many great chances to be honest. Half chances and individually made chances yes but real incisive openings not really.

Rafa's team at it's best was a machine and played superb football. Destroyed a lot of teams.

(note, not dissing our current side, it's work in progress - but the assumption here seems to be that Rafa's team was not a good football side and I disagree with that)

We're certainly not at the level of football of Rafa's 2nd place team..........................yet!
Give it a bit more time.

That was a wonderful period (second half of the season) where whenever we took to the field, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the other team were getting a hiding.
Shame we couldn't build on it.

So do I. We played great football often (and not "just in the last few months of 08/09"). We hammered a lot of teams, scoring great goals and playing great football. We're ticking along real nicely at the moment but as you say, and everyone is aware, it's a work in progress and we're not at the level we were when at our best under Rafa.

I think we are creating plenty of CLEAR CUT chances in each and every game

Rafa's team was a machine much like some of Paisleys sides

However Kenny's sides both back in the day and now are cut from a different cloth

There is no wrong way or right way to play football both have equal merits but for me the current side is the most attacking side I've seen since the Evans era

Totally agree with you and McDermotX.

I think one of the heartening things is though that we are creating a team identity. We have a way of playing and it is clearly growing and players becoming more comfortable with it as the season goes on.

under rafa it was a machine . . . a methodical machine. i would imagine we have created more chances under kenny in the first 5 months of the season than under any previous manager since evans.

there have been many clear cut chances so far under kenny. so much so that with a torres on his form like was the case under the rafa regime, we would be so much closer to the top.

We'd be clear, never mind closer!

the standard of the league is generally lower than the year we finished second.

We created tons of top goal scoring chances and stats can support that with ease (Suarez penalty kick vs Sunderland, Carroll miss against Swansea, Suarez and Adam chances against Stoke, Hendo, Kuyt chances against MUFC, Carroll, Suarez etc chances against Cityh, Hendo, Downing chances against Fulham, 18 times we hit the woodwork etc) but the we are don't have a player that can put those away on more consistant basis, which is why we must be in the market for a clinical finisher in January as long as someone of decent quality is available.

If we had done that we would have been sitting very comfortably in top 4 atm.

Chances are not a problem but the lack of top notch finisher is.

See I think some of them were the result of some quick thinking rather than being clear cut, Henderson against Fulham for sure. I also don't think Kuyt could have done any more with his chance v United.

I think those were close chance, but imo they certainly were not all clear cut.
