I really think that everyone having a pop at Henderson should really look at Lucas, remember the stick he was getting a couple of seasons ago (possibly from them even) and back off. Henderson, like Lucas, appears to be a lad with a good head on his shoulders, and is trying to carve out a place for himself in a position on the pitch where it is impossible to hide. Given time and patience he has every chance of becoming a real quality player for us, some of the grief he's been getting so far this season is well ott for me.

I think Henderson is going to develop into a really good player.

He's not flashy but he's got a good footballing brain, a nice touch (one-touch), he can spot a good pass, has a fantastic engine and certainly the potential to score ten goals per season.

I thought Henderson was our best player last night. Very encouraged by him.

I haven't been surprised by Henderson because I've always thought we bought a good young footballer who has all the potential in the world to become great.
What I noticed last night was how much stronger he was, physically much more dominant than earlier in the season, whether it's confidence or a weight's programme I don't know but has played consistantly well since Lucas' injury

Hendo is better in the centre no doubts, suits his game more but i still don't think he is ready to be a regular starter for LFC. BTW that's not stick, just my opinion and seemingly the opinion of lot of LFC supporters i talk to.

Would Hendo be better if he had someone like Lucas behind him? Maybe, but for me he doesn't impose himself on the game enough, or dictate the play which a CM needs to do it's all safe and sideways. IMO that's just not enough for our current CM player to be doing. In time, i'm sure he'll improve but if we had a fully fit Gerrard & Lucas, i don't think Hendo would be starting every week.

Agree with you mate, although I think given 2 seasons (like Lucas) he will be.

I think he needs time to develop (as playing for Sunderland and playing for LFC is like night and day) and I too don't think he's ready for full time role just yet but our shortage of CMs is probably contributing to him playing regularly.

Downing was especially awful. Seems to go sideways all to often for my liking, severe lack of driving runs with an end product. Jeez he's been disappointing.

I agree. He needs to be making the forward runs that Enrique makes when he gets the ball. He's too anonymous too often.

He is going to be a very reliable figure for us and very important I feel. Don't think he will ever have the influence of Gerrard but like Lucas he is going to improve to cement his position as a key player. We need more flashy players to compliment the likes of Lucas, Henderson. There needs to be a balance and a playmaker, with a similar spark as the likes of Silva or Modric needs to be signed to give us that edge. Henderson is never going to be a Silva but nonetheless an important part of a balanced midfield. Teamwork and work rate are often overlooked by the more closed minded spectators of football these days.
