We were poor, we created nothing, but we didn't deserve to lose 3-0, two goals cames against the run of play. Difference was they were clinical in front of goal.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Some of our signings are really looking like terrible buys

Carroll is not a goal threat and completely anonymous
Adam is a free kick specialist who has seemingly lost his ability to take free kicks. He cannot keep the ball and his distribution is terrible
Downing is not a good player. He is meek, unconfident and way out of his depth. He takes the easy option and will not take the game to the full backs. Possibly the worst buy in recent history - granted he looks infinitely worse on the right than the left, but when he is on the left, he is shown up by Enrique as an attacking force and by Bellamy when he comes off the bench - its embarrassing. I don't think our right hand side or attacking play has looked this bad in a long time.

On the plus side - Henderson was decent

      Gerrard shot from long range

      Bellamy made an impact

Really?? I thought he was far worse than that.

I've never seen anything from him other than this. He's crap.

Downing is a disgrace to our shirt , bottles any tackle and also can't even get past his man

It was a close game really and I think we were unlucky at the wrong times. Man City were nothing special and had Downing scored I'd have fancied us to win with a clean sheet.

Anyway, we have Man Utd away. And Spurs, Chavs, Everton and Arsenal at home. We should be much improved in the second half of the season.

On the plus side, we didn't hit the post today. In fact they hit the post, maybe the tide is turning.

up till this point ive defended downing but he needs to grow a pair of bollocks and at the very least attack his fullback.

plenty of possession, but no penetration. you cansee the team is evolving and the next step is to find players who can help provide some proper cutting edge and help you finish these chances.

                  work in progress.

Building an attack around Carroll is going to lead us down a blind alley. Only 'effective' if one particular type of ball is played into the box, and adds absolutely nothing else. Our play is just so, so predictable. Teams are going to know our game plan before every match.

I thought we played well bar *cough* *cough* the end product.
                      Are we winning?

Sky cunts are giving it the whole "8 games without Suarez has started badly" as if having him means we'd have definitely won
That is exactly what I said my fear was in the build-up thread.

Who knows if we scored first when we had the chance and if Reina didn't make the mistake perhaps the result could have been different.

It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

i meant to say as well, Downing only has one trick - run quickly and then cut inside! i would take Riera and Pennant over him any day.

We should have attempted more shots on the goal given the very slippery surface rather than try to cross it in the box as our crossing abilities are sub-standard to say at least.

Hendo had a very good game. Glad to see Stevie back and him Bellamy and Maxi perhaps could have had an impact on the final score if they played from the start.
