It's all about money though. If you pay top money then you should be getting a top player. £7m on Adam is fair enough. He's been a £7m player for us.

If we sold Adam this month we'd get £7m back for him. Easily. What would we get for Carroll and Downing?

Dalglish has spent a small fortune in the year he has been back and we're still languishing in sixth. We haven't really improved much this season compared to the second half of last season have we?

It wouldn't surprise me if Dalglish brought in Kevin Phillips, a good old English centre forward

The scoreline was a little harsh on us, again a little unlucky, but really and trully our wing play was ****ing atrocious tonight, if you play on on the ****ing wing your job is to get the ball to the striker in dangerous areas, to be fair to Carroll he held the ball up when he had to, but got truly **** service and at times he was completly on his own up there

Some positives some negatives, hard to feel anything other than, ok well we still have work to do but we all knew that anyway ..

A flat result on a very very flat day, lets go get that ****ing draw against Oldman now

Still think we are looking very strong for 4th and in a stangge way Louie forced to rest up may do him the world of good

Bellamy was the only one who seemed to offer a goal threat. We need more creativity and more innovation. Its clear that we need a playmaker with bags of tricks and ideas.

The whole premise tonight was based on getting it straight out to the wing and trying to cross it into Carroll. Unfortunately the standard of crossing was a joke.

I'm starting to lose faith in Downing now, I was thinking maybe he was just going through a bad patch and his end product would improve but he just looks very, very average out there.
Sorry but this is insanity. We spent 94 minutes putting crosses into City's box and I honestly can't remember AC coming close to scoring from even one of those crosses. So either no one in our team can cross or perhaps Andy is a slow donkey without the movement or guile to get on the end of those crosses.

Hoofing the ball towards AC is not and never will be the way forward for this club.

He was so poor today admittedly. He is so immobile and clumsy. He may offer us some options going forward at times but he is just not consistent enough. We need a central midfielder who has the whole package, attacking and defending. He just seems like a passenger sometimes.

He was better on the left side than the right IMO, but he is lacking in confidence.

He has been poor in his time here but I think people are too quick to get on his back, the first time he does something wrong, then he gets slagged off all game.
I think Downing did okay and Carroll did as well as could be expected tonight. But it's not about how they did against a very solid team in City, it's more about how they have done all year. Neither have done nowhere near enough to justify being in the team or justify the cash spent on them.

No mate he really was that bad, there was ample opportunities to get the ball in first time but he took not a 1 of them, that said everybody bar Gerrard were gulty of the same, you could see Andy becoming more dejected with each run with now ball coming in, I would be ****ing fumming if I was him, lay off lay off lay off, by the time the ball does eventually come in, there back 4 are completly settled and expecting it, all too easy to defend against

Pardon? I have never had a previous account on here.

I'm not knocking today's result, I am not even bothered about it because my thoughts are with Luis Suarez and his family today.

I just want to know how much money this club has to spend in order to just to get some Champions League football? Tottenham this summer spent £5million and they are this season's dark horse.

We're as inconsistent under Kenny, as we were under Rafa, Houllier and Evans and it's a little abit annoying to say the least. Everytime our rivals slip up, we fail to capitalise on a golden opportunity, it becomes disheartening after awhile.

Right so, got smashed 3-0 with 10 men even though City were average, weird one that.

IMO, the Downing chance was crucial early on, they scored so quickly after that was a kick in the balls. Reina was poor today his mistake for the first, along with Johnson switching off saw us get punished by in average display by City, but who have players who can be ruthless in front of goal. Someone was talking before the game saying saying that was only 1 change from Newcastle game and why were we making big deal of the line up?Well i think we can see the difference in quality when it really counts between City & likes of Newcastle.

We dissapeared in the second half, went out with a whimper. Clearly i've been a critic of the likes of Downing,Hendo & Carroll. Hendo was average in the middle, did ok ish and IMO needs a midfield general like Gerrard to guide him. Carroll had a thankless task, trying to play in a manner that is foreign to his game and his style of play. he cannot lead the line IMO, makes him look languid and awkward. In saying that he has been terrible for us thus far just doesn't suit our style of play. Dun Dun Dun...... and then there was Stuart Downing!! I admit i have been one of his biggest critics. Simply put this guy is not good enough to play for LFC, i called him a pussy and said he had no balls!! Any player that wears that LFC shirt and consistenly shows no aggression,no passion, no fight, no commitment and no heart IMO has no absolutely no place at Liverpool Football Club. A horrible signing.

I'm not Maxi biggest fan but i find it incredible how he has got constantly over looked for Downing all season, for me it's similiar to a choice between getting a blow job from Mila Kunis and getting genital warts from Courtney Love.

For me Stevie & Maxi on at half time and then half hour ish for Bellamy. Thought Spearing was our best player today so well done to him. Anyways didn't expect the win with out line up, although they didn't play as well as i thought they would.

P.S. Kuyt has been a superb servant for us but he has been shocking this season, was never quick but seems to can't actually move any more.

I'm not saying it is the answer but the fact is even a good striker wouldn't have scored from the delivery tonight because it was utter ****e. We shouldn't even use Carroll because the tactic is clearly not working.

Yeah but it doesnt matter - if you sign a player and he performs well, he's a good signing. If he doesnt, he's not a good signing. Irrelevant of the fees.

I thought we played to Cityh strength and crossing the ball constantly into the box in hopes of finding Carroll was wrong.

Only real goal scoring chance in the second half came when we played 1-2 touch in the box and Maxi unfortunately missed it.

That said, our crosses today, as in the past, are too fluffy floaters, that lack zest and pace, which gives defense enough time to get ready to defend but at the same time Andy's movement in the box is not the greatest neither.

When he is guarded by a player with strong aerial presence he always gets out-muscled and nowhere near the ball.
