    Awright Koppites

    Eyup folks, Stoke fan here.

Thought I'd drop in ahead of our game next week and offer you all the opportunity to talk about football again...

I'm sure you lot will be expecting a win and you're quite right to do so. Our away form is actually pretty good this year (for us) but against any of the big teams Pulis reverts to type, talks in slightly hushed, revering tones about the "quality" the opposition have got "all over the pitch", parks the bus, hopes for a freak point (like we got against you three years ago) and we lose 2-0 (at least).

Our away record against the top six since we've been up is abysmal - W1 D1 L17 - kind of tells its own story. Saying that, head-to-head we have an identical record over the last three-and-a-bit seasons - W2 D3 L2 - so you never know.

Crouchy is just finding some great form with us so we'll be hoping he comes back to bite you, and Jonny Walters is a blue so he might be up for it, although he's looked absolutely knackered recently - he's played 33 games already this season and TP just refuses to give him a rest. He's pretty crucial to the way we play.

We're finally back to Huth and Shawcross at the back after a disastrous experiment with Woodgate, who is now getting starts at right-back - it's a position he's never played in his life, and it shows.

Will Gerrard start for you do you think? Do you think you'll sign a striker before then? What are your hopes for the rest of the season? My impression of Liverpool (and don't take this the wrong way) is that you remind me of a good Villa side from a few years ago - lots of good players and playing some nice stuff but not quite enough to trouble the top 4 - just my opinion like.

Obviously we're pleased Suárez will be out - incidentally I registered on here because I wanted to make some points on the thread about him - I've lived in South America for 6 years and found the whole case fascinating... but by the time my registration came through LFC had announced they weren't going to appeal and the argument had moved on. So I thought I'd come and talk football instead.

    I hate Stoke.

Edit: Indifferent about the football team though.

That's never stopped anyone on here.

The thread is still running and I'd be interested in hearing the opinion of a fan of another club, especially if you've lived in South America.

What's it like on a cold Wednesday night at your gaff, how do you think Messi would cope?

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

As regards the match we've struggled to score goals this season, and being without Suarez won't help. We have drawn alot of home games this season - 6 out of 10 (winning the other 4). We've only scored 2 or more goals at home 3 times, so if you score you have a decent chance of getting something. We tend to create decent amount of chances but waste them and keepers tend to have good games against us, Sorensen tends to play well against us.

IMO - it's good to see a fan of a different club on here - as long as they behave themselves and don't resort to numb skull behaviour !!

The only gripe i have with Stoke is, the long throw ins. It's a **** house tactic.
                  DALGLISH !! :respect

I'm not sure there's much I can add any more - I wanted to make a very specific point about the guy from Brown (?) University who picked up on the poor rendering of Spanish in the report - people seemed to be getting excited about it as the basis for an appeal but I thought he had virtually nothing that was useful to you. As it is you're not going to appeal anyway so it's moot. If you're really interested I'll add it later anyway...

So is Gerrard going to start?

Oh, and I've seen Messi play a number of times - he would get eaten alive at the Brit.

                      But effective.

                        I would ****ing hope so!

It's 10 days away, he should be right to start.

How will Delap cope without the usual 15 metre run-up when he takes a throw in?

Probably but even if he doesn't you will lose.

Regardless of our poor home record I cannot see you getting anything out of this one.

                            Welcome mate.

What's happening with your defence this season then? On paper you have a decent (although injury prone) wealth of centrebacks. Huth, Shawcross, Upson and Woodgate. So if Woodgate is at RB then what's your usual back line? And what's the fans' preferable back line?

Gerrard might well start by then as it's a way off.

What are your thoughts on Crouch so far? And what's happening with Pennant this season?
