Not bothered what the Mancs think, they are just point scoring but it's the media and other clubs fans tarring us with that brush that bothers me.

Fan incident during Oldham game

How would he be a Manc *******?Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the Oldham players statement says he was called a black ******* but as he had his back to the kop at the time he has no idea who shouted the abuse.
Then there are conflicting witness statements with some backing up the racist claim and others (including the steward closest to the area of the kop) adament that Manc ******* was what was shouted at him.
The only thing certain about this whole incident is that Patrice Evra is a cunt of the highest order and is going to get pelters during the cup tie.
I also hope the fans that are there aren't stupid enough to racially abuse him when he goes to collect the ball for a throw in etc....
There will probably be 20 more microphones dotted around the pitch than usual
As you say we'll be in the spotlight big time for Evra's welcome back party. Is Xenophobia an offense be it public order or FA charges? He'll definetly get the boo treatment.*************************

The thing that still amazes me is that the people surrounding this guy didn't lynch him. Surely they must have realised the seriousness of it. I've been on the Kop before when someone has simply sworn in front of women and children and the reaction was one of absolute fury, and the guy was soon put in his place.

You would at least expect some fans within earshot to have been visibly annoyed/disgusted at hearing what is alleged to have been shouted.Originally posted by GTi View PostThe thing that still amazes me is that the people surrounding this guy didn't lynch him. If it was one of the 3 wearing Suarez tee shirts and jester hats I think they were at the bottom left of the Kop. So weren't really in the middle of a group. I wasn't very far aware but heard nothing.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostYou would at least expect some fans within earshot to have been visibly annoyed/disgusted at hearing what is alleged to have been shouted.

A life ban is way over the top for the supposed crime. But obviously we have to be seen to be tough now and if true the guys a dickhead. Excluding someone isn't help solve the issue, its merely footballs way of washing its hands and passing back to society. anyway does life mean life? Knowing football it probably does.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I agree that excluding him doesnt solve the issue and does indeed just point to football washing its hands of it - but is it upto football to solve the problem? It's a society problem, not a football one.
And as for the life ban being too harsh - i cant imagine anyone ever thinking that directing racial abuse at a player would result in anything BUT a life ban. Why would the punishment be anything less?

because if terry is found guilty of racially abusing Ferdinand do you think he will be banned for life? I don't see why fans should be treated harsher than players. This lad is what 20, does he not get the chance to repent and be forgiven in due course? Or are his actions to stay for his entire adult life? As we've seen in the discussions in the suarez thread, people can make racial remarks without being racists. There is a political party that has members that are openly racist that do much more damage and are free to do so. I agree we as a club have no choice but I think football has it wrong.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI agree that excluding him doesnt solve the issue and does indeed just point to football washing its hands of it - but is it upto football to solve the problem? Does it matter if he's a real racist or just an idiot ?
If one of our clubs players had been charged with insulting a German player in some way and been banned, and then resulting in all the ****e we've had, i think the fool would probably have shouted something like ....'You Kraut *******'.
If he's a dirty racist that go's around doing this sort of thing regularly then he deserves all he gets, but is he, or did he just put his mouth into gear before engaging what little brain he has ?
And does it matter as far as punishment go's ?Last edited by Vermilion; 09-01-12, 10:51 PM.
