Haha, your Dad sounds like mine. Our parents grew up in a time when people had completely different values and issues to ours.

I was talking to a lad the other day who had been to a music festival and saw Andy Carroll ****faced and couldn't believe we'd spent £35m on the guy. Do we expect too much of these young people? Evra, Suarez, Carroll etc - they're rich, young and pretty stupid. Football is a game and maybe we analyse things too much. For all of our sensibilities at the end of the day most football players are not being paid to use their brains.

For all of our sensibilities at the end of the day most football players are not being paid to use their brains.

Unfortunately, football doesn't seem to be churning out Dostoyevskys, Freuds, Teslas, Einsteins on a regular basis. But neither does humanity. And I think it's quite unfair to be putting on the 'Moral High-Ground' hat and pointing the finger at all these young football players saying 'You should do this, you shouldn't do that.' It's not like they're smoking crack cocaine. Alcohol is freely available. It's legal. People are encouraged to drink it left right and centre. Everyone seems to be doing it. So what's to stop a normal human being to going to Glastonbury and having a jolly good time, whilst we all go to the pubs at the weekends getting completely wasted and then coming back in saying 'Oi, you're not allowed, I pay you're ****ing wages'. Which is quite ludicrous, because obviously, we're not! The club does and the club manages them and that's the end of that.
Humans are different, some football players play the trumpet, others get injured playing with their kid at home, quite a few snort cocaine, others like playing golf, some buy Ferraris and smash them into the wall, others 'who should know better' drink and drive, some drink Lucozade, some Red Bull, so what? I really don't get it, whatever, do what the **** you want, as long as the club aren't giving it large, I really couldn't give a ****. If he goes on a roll now and starts banging them in, all good for me. I think one does not necessarily have anything to do with the other. 'If he drank less, he'd play much better', bollocks. How'd we know that. If he stopped drinking, he might become depressed having even more responsibility on his shoulders without being able to release some of that responsibility and just having some good old human fun. No one knows the ins and outs. All we see is stupid ****ing blurry pictures on that wankstain website called Twitter with some drunk knobhead giving the thumbs up 'Check me out!', it's like **** off?
