You've stated that Kuyt is finished, yet swapping Luis Suarez in his place would definitely have no material impact on the game.
But you are replacing one player who doesnt score with another who doesnt score

To be honest i'm not concerned at all in the grand scheme of things. Kenny is doing a good job and we'll get there.
      I will say this

I will be disappointed if we dont sign a striker this window

We desperately need one and if we dont get one that will be solely down to Kenny

He most certainly can win, first off by perhaps not choosing to field FIVE defenders against a side who were never coming to Anfield with any intention of attacking.

Three CBs to look after ONE striker, who never had any support or service all day....really?

Fielding an XI with only one proper goal threat (who was played too deep to really influence the final third)....really??

Playing Dirk as a lone striker (when he doesnt really stay there anyway) and then taking off Downing, who'd actually put in some useful crosses when Carroll came on.....really???

Nah, that was pretty limp and Kenny has to take the brunt of the blame, he got it badly wrong i'm afraid.

Rafa got some flak for some cautious selections/systems at home to dross but Kenny's more than equalled the most conservative of Rafa's home bore-draw days.

Nobody is saying we have enough in terms of creativity and potency in the striker's department - but you sure as hell need to make the best of what you've got and give yourself the best chance to create/score/win.

Kenny didnt do that. Nowhere near good enough and i dont care who makes the decisions when it comes to transfers - whether it's Kenny, Comolli or even John Henry - whoever it is really needs to pull their finger out and sign a proper finisher/goalscorer ASAP.

If we dont sign one this month, we can kiss the top four goodbye.
My argument that you highlighted was specifically in regards to playing Carroll and Bellamy, and I've gone over that scenario

I think he got it wrong playing 5 at the back I also think if he doesnt go into the transfer market and sign a forward that will be wrong also

How do you work that out

If your conversion rate is 7% then it doesnt matter what chances you have it will still be 7%

More chances he has then more goals he will score but that might not affect his conversion rate (ie he scores 7 in 100 chances, or 14 in 200 chancs - its still only a 7% conversion rate)

I agree on Suarez,I said it on here after his first couple of games that he just doesn't finish as well as he should be for a man of his talents,he'd never be a 20 league goal a season man at that rate. Its a very poor conversion % for us.

Be very interested to see what his international conversion rate is like

If we don't sign a striker I'll be very concerned about Kenny. Its all well and good giving the team confidence and praising their efforts publicly etc but his comments this week about us not needing to add anything as we are doing very well are worrying.hopefully its a smokescreen.

See that little Cruyf like turn Carroll did, shame he got clattered for his trouble.

If Suarez had a great conversion rate he would be as good as Messi. I think it's harsh to criticise the man seeing that he works arguably harder and covers more ground than Messi. We just made a huge cock up in buying Carroll to replace Torres. It seems even Kenny doesn't think they can play together which makes it an even more preposterous buy imo.
                  Are we winning?

I'd settle for Suarez having an average conversion rate

Something along the lines of 15-20% would do

                    Ditto for Carroll

If Kenny came out and said he wants to bring in a few faces, teams will cotton onto it and try to haggle over the price because we need their players.

What seriously concerns me about our strikers is that when they move around in a fluid motion e.g. Suarez moves into the wide areas, no one is moving to take that position. Lack of runners in the box getting into key goalscoring positions.

Man Utd do this time and again, and it pays off for them. When Enrique had the ball yesterday on the edge of the byline, he needed Downing, Kuyt, Henderson and Gerrard to get into the box. Only Kuyt was actually in the box.

It's not an ideal time to go and buy a striker.

Its not but I struggle to see how things will improve if we dont

It's frustrating as we should be comfortably in the top 4 and even on par with spurs but these ****ing home draws against **** have cost us. If we dont buy a striker we will finish about 7th

To be fair - from memory - Downing, Gerrard, Adam and Henderson all tried from distance yesterday. Only Henderson hit the target and that didn't really test the keeper. We all bemoaned Adam trying from 50 yards when we were looking to build up an attack too.

I wondered who'd come up with that first.

If we do want a player then we have to negotiate with their club for him.Unless I'm very much mistaken that will indicate to the selling club that we are in the market and they will therefore haggle anyway.

I just hope we are in the market cos we clearly need to be.Kenny's public protestations I suppose are as much about keeping our current players happy thinking we aren't trying to replace them then it is anything else.
