I'd rather have Shevley in midfield than Adam.

The balance of the midfield is ****ed though; it doesn't protect the defence enough, and it doesn't support the attack enough. It's the worst of both worlds. Even when Lucas was playing, the opposition still had time and space to play the ball around.

with lucas though he mops up constantly, we have conceeded goals a plenty since his injury, no coincedence.

Irrespective that its discrespectful, i long for rafa to come in & mould a proper side; one i can be proud of, even Stevie G was out of fight tonight, he can see he inept we are & he has noone to share the burfen with now.

It's no coincidene this is pepes worst season..........

They both won in Europe and they both came second in the league .Ged won more than Rafa too. It was obvious by the end he needed to go, as it was by the end with Rafa.

Rafa is a legend for Istanbul but we were utterly turgid in his last season and played some dire stuff quite often in seasons before that.

Going back is not the answer.

not defending him to the hilt, but he was fighting massive fires off the pitch; i truly believe this affcted his ideals on the pitch & also the players were screwed over by H&G/the turmoil, it all adds up. I cannot accept rafa that turned from a fantastic manager in to a **** manger during the summer break...........

And we are learning that the hard way. Why not learn from mistakes rather than repeating them ??

Rafa had an extremely bad run in his final year. He bad injuries, bad transfers, bad luck all rolled into one. One damned season. And yet until the last 3 games we still had a fighting chance to get 4th. We missed out by what?? 4pts or something.

Time to move on, give Kenny proper time then look at options if we have to, but to go forward not back

He has been one year in charge, much of this have to do with unrealistic fan expectations of what 1 transfer window can do rather than Kenny himself. The backing of this club is at times turning in to a farce.

So far many players have been letting the team, manager and supporters down this season and I'm very pleased with Kenny's post match reaction. He said what needed to be said.

I don't think expecting CL is unreasonable, we were not far off CL last season despite a horror start under Roy. We have not gone forward from how we were last season, we have regressed because we have spent badly.

Don't agree, that expectation is more out of habit than realism. It's realistic that we would challenge for CL this season, we can't expect to cruise in top-4 anymore. The competition is to high now and the setback under H&G was just to big. Rafa left a team outside CL, and Hodgson made it far worse. We since lost our top-striker and our current manager have had 1½ transfer windows to make changes.

2 half seasons is far to little for a manager to make his footing, and I in all honesty think that calling for Kenny's head right now is at best a joke, and at worst completely ridiculous and knee-jerk.

Not true at all. The league is certainly not stronger, we were a short distance off the last 2 seasons. We had a lot spent to improve the team in the summer. We have no excuse, we are performing worse because we bought mediocrity. Downing, Adam and Carroll are not good enough to be starters for us, Henderson might be but right now he isn't. We have every right to except CL football with our outlay and how last season supposedly weaker team performed.

I'm not calling for Kenny's head, but he needs to look at how we have done and what he has brought in and needs to seriously rethink the direction he is taking us.

no, its not out of habit, we finished fantasticly last year & then spent - wait for it £60million to be a top 4 side ( thats not including Carroll - Cough 35MILL). I do not think champs legue was a habit call, more of a ' we are back & watch out' that sadly has not happened & tbh we have wasted all the money spent ( other than the Hendo cash).

FFS, watching the 10pm ITV news as i type & we are the top sports story' BOLTON PULL OFF STUNNING (STUNNING!!!!!!!!) WIN AGAINST LIVERPOOL' AAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH

I didn't say the league was stronger, I said the competition is higher and it quite clearly is. Hardly any team outside manchester can expect CL position right now. It is pure habit of thought that makes fan's just expect CL, it's a lack of respect for the compitition, and it's simply not a position we are in. We can expect to challenge this season no more.

I'll happily c/p from my last post, because that is the crux of it for me. The setback under H&G was just to big.

(I know you personally are not calling for his head). To me it's just plain naive to just go out and expect CL after all we have been through, and giving the above mentioned time to a manager then for some to stop backing is just beyond me.

And yes, not all our transfers have worked out and a lot of players have let down the team, manager and fan's and as Kenny said they shouldn't expect to be here much longer. We really need a new striker and a couple of creative midfielders and stop playing Adam he is just not good enough to be a playmaker. And lastly we still have a better squad than at the end of last season, it's nonsense to state otherwise. If you really believe that, then go back and check the squad that finished that season. Yes we spend since, but the run for most of the end of last season, probably gave a very misleading impression of where we are right now as a club.
