Why is Pennant getting abuse?

I don't understand why people slate Pennant so much, everytime I watch him I think he does alright. Its simple. Pennant has been getting flack because his performances have been very disappointing, and, given that he's used to this style of football, not really shown anything near even the potential to justify his transfer fee. Also, lets face it, Wenger doesn't get it wrong when he lets 'em go very often - Upson, Jeffers, Wright..... Pennant? His reputation has as little to do with it as his race does, its about performances on the pitch and then demonstration of unused potential if those aren't so great... and he's been lacking in both so far.

When I slated Pennant a few weeks back it was because he was piss poor against Blackburn. The fact that he is black (note that he is mixed race and may well not appreciate being labled as black) has nothing to do with it.

That's rubbish. Jermaine is getting stick because he came as our right winger, something we have waited ages for and hasn't done very well. He does have a few assists but his overall game is nervous and unpolished. He needs to do better, get outside his man and beat him for pace.
