Losing this would be major blow, especially if Chelsea win. They'd go 7 points ahead of us AND we don't play on the next round of league games due to Wembley (Chelsea are home to Bolton that weekend). So by the time we next play a league game they could be 10 points ahead of us.

Even a draw may not be enough.

Pretty much only way for us to keep our chances for top 4 is to win at OT.

It is possible but I think it is unlikely.

I personally expect to see Suarez, Bellamy and Carroll upfront on Saturday and Kuyt on the bench.

            Pessimist

Or we could be 4 points behind them with a game in hand

We are more than capable of beating them, if we lose it will not be the end of the world as some people are suggesting, I also cannot see Chelsea coming away with anything other than a point at Everton.

Chelsea have accumulated less points than Bolton over the pass 8 games ... Arsenal have a very difficult trip to Sunderland .. only thing is they has an FA cup reply with Boro that went into extra time mid week and Newcastle are away to Spurs

All 4 teams have difficult games, we probally have the most difficult one yet we I would say are most likely to get a result .. says it all

I am pretty bullish about getting 4th, it will be tight but we will gain ground on Chelsea pretty quickly, every team playing them now fancy there chances and whilst we may not be free scoring, teams know they are in for a trying time with us and we have been getting consistently better

Manchester United v Liverpool FC preview: No home comforts for LFC mean Old Trafford trip may be welcomed

OLD TRAFFORD could never be described as the venue of choice for any Liverpool FC player.

But, when it comes to the Premier League, seemingly anywhere would be more productive this season than Anfield.

When Monday’s drab goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur was interrupted by a tabby feline intruder, LFC manager Kenny Dalglish, standing arms folded and stern-faced on the touchline, momentarily appeared less than impressed.

Small wonder. The Liverpool FC manager would probably have preferred a black cat to have crossed his path, such has been his team’s lack of fortune at Anfield this season. And, Dalglish would no doubt contend, the failure to gain a significant rub of the green in other areas.

While there was encouragement with the return of Luis Suarez, an eighth draw in 12 home Premier League games checked the encouraging momentum that has been growing during the past few weeks at Anfield.

That’s only four home wins and 16 dropped points. Not good enough for a team harbouring aspirations of Champions League qualification; the last time Liverpool drew more league games in a season, it was when drawing 10 of 21 Anfield clashes in 1970-71.

Indeed, they became the first top-flight side to draw at least eight of their first 12 home matches since Manchester United in the 1980-1981 season, when the Red Devils finished eighth.

Liverpool have picked up 20 points at Anfield and 19 away, compared to the end of last season when it was a 40:18 split, and having the Premier League’s lowest chance-to-goal conversion rate (around 9%) is damaging their hopes of a top-four finish.

The optimists will point to an unbeaten home record this season with Dalglish having lost only one of his last 60 games in charge at Anfield. But it’s on the road that Liverpool’s most impressive results have come this season, having beaten Chelsea (both in the Premier League and Carling Cup), Manchester City (Carling Cup again), Arsenal and Everton.

They will look to add to that list with the sizeable scalp of bitter North West rivals United this weekend, having lost on their last three visits to Old Trafford.

Unsurprisingly, the build-up to the game has been dominated by Suarez going head-to-head with Patrice Evra for the first time since being found guilty of racially abusing the United defender.

With the Football Association declining the opportunity to skip the pre-match formalities at Old Trafford – as they did to spare Anton Ferdinand facing up to John Terry ahead of Queens Park Rangers’ FA Cup tie with Chelsea last month – there will be as much focus on any possible handshake between Suarez and Evra before the game even starts.

While Evra was roundly jeered by Liverpool fans during the recent FA Cup tie at Anfield, Suarez is expected to run a genuine gauntlet of hate from the Old Trafford crowd.

The Uruguayan still feels aggrieved to have been hit with an eight-match ban for what Liverpool claim was an altercation that merely highlighted cultural differences.

And, perhaps inevitably given an ongoing propensity to state his case rather than resist such temptation, Suarez served only to further stoke the flames of controversy this week by intimating Evra should not have pursued any allegations.

“I was not depressed at all (during suspension),” says the striker. “I knew what I did and there is a kind of football law that says ‘what happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch and that’s the end of the story’.”

“I know against Manchester United it is going to be tense because I’m going to face Evra. But I’m used to having fans whistle at me.

“I hope nothing unusual happens. I’ll have to forget what happened for that moment.

“I do know United fans are going to try to make me feel uncomfortable. But I have to tell them – they are going to spur me on if they whistle at me.”

“These are the fixtures you always look forward to. We have had two positive results against United already this season and we should take belief from those as we approach this match.”

Other than vengeance on Evra’s behalf – which will be at the forefront of the mind of United’s players, as shown by Wayne Rooney’s tweet that Suarez should have been sent off against Tottenham after catching Scott Parker – Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will seek to bounce back from that dramatic late FA Cup fourth round defeat at Anfield last month.

“They will be keen to beat us as usual,” says Dirk Kuyt, scorer of the decisive goal that afternoon. “But we are keen to beat them as well. The FA Cup match doesn’t matter now. Every match against United is as big as the last so we will be doing everything to get the three points.”

Of his matchwinner, Kuyt, speaking to the LFC Magazine, adds: “I suppose you could say the game was finished then. It was one of those games where you know whoever scores next will win. When you score like that, you don’t think.

“Sometimes there is lots of emotion because everybody is going crazy around you. But everything moves quickly and before you know it, the game is kicking off again.”

While no longer an automatic first-team regular, Kuyt followed his goal against United with a long-awaited 50th league goal in the 3-0 Premier League win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

And he says: “It is true that I am a player that needs many games in a row but I also know the competition here is a lot stronger now.

“I cannot remember the last season in my career when I played in less than 50 games. That’s the type of person I am; I like to contribute and I will try my best to start more.”

Apparently that's where he played for Ajax (coming off the left)...which, if true, I didn't know. Thought he played through the middle for them.

Wont there be a minutes silence before the game for Munich anniversary as they have not played a home game since now that could be a worry

Was just about to ask the same thing. What a nightmare, potentially. Apparently United have considered mentioning Jessie Paisley before the silence, as well as the Munich disaster, which would obviously lessen the risk of any cuntery from our end.
