I too think we should refuse to comment anymore and move on. Draw a line under the whole sorry affair.

I think the club has shown enough to Luis to convince him we back him all the way. Now let's forget about it all.

It was annoying to see us show so much fight at HT and FT, yet so little on the pitch. Scholes and Giggs gave our boys a football lesson. We should have been snapping at their heels, not stood there and admired their pinpoint passing.

I hardly ever remember us putting them under any kind of pressure, fine at 0-0, but ridiculous tactics when we are two goals down.

And watching Valencia hound Enrique all game made me angry even more. I have been asking for a winger with real pace since Rafa was in charge. God knows how much money spent later and we still await one.

A winger should either be a speed demon like Lennon or a top class playmaker like Silva. Downing is neither and in all honesty no better than a player like Etherington & Jarvis.

I'm not saying Downing is hopeless as he's clearly not. He's decent. But a team with big ambitions should be looking elsewhere for players.

I think Henderson will be a top player, but to push us on, I think the £36m on Downing and Henderson would have been better off spent on a couple of wingers with lightning pace.
    Forwards.......

I'm disappointed how we approached the game. We played contain football the whole game, even when we went two down we were stuck in neutral. No movement off the ball, everyone standing static waiting to defend their positions. United are suspect to say the least at the back. Any team that goes at them scores. As much as I hate losing, its better to lose having a go than playing like we did yesterday.

Same, but the best thing we can do now is stay away from the papers and SSN until this dies down.

Hopefully Suarez and Carroll both bang in hat-tricks on Saturday and the headlines are positive.

Yep, new week and hopefully a fresh start. Plus its Brighton in the cup at home so fingers crossed Luis gets an easy day from the fans - With Gus sticking up for Suarez and Brighton fans loving Gus as they do I'm hoping it means jeers will be minimal.

Moved some of the more recent posts in this thread about the whole handshake nonsense into the Suarez - Evra thread. If we could keep this one solely for any more discussion about the match itself that anyone want to have, that would be great.

Saturday's performance was abysmal against a very pedestrian Man U team, odds-on to win nothing this season. Once we gifted them their bad goals I couldn't see us scoring at all. Our midfield is woefully one-dimensional and lacks any sort of creativity or cutting edge. We look like a 1970s team and light years from one that knows what ball-retention and passing to feet means

My heart sank at the start of his reign when I heard that Dalglish thought there wasn't enough banter in the dressing room, hence he wanted more British players in the squad.

Personally I'd be happier with a load of miserable Latin American and southern European players who actually looked like they could make a difference, rather than the deadwood he brought in.

If it's true that Comolli gives him a list of players and he makes his choices from it, then we should change the policy immediately. The likes of Adam, Downing and Carroll will never be good enough for Liverpool (I've seen occasional glimpses of quality from Henderson, limited though they have been).

We are missing Lucas Leiva enormously and we should be trying to sign at least two players of similar quality for midfield as an absolute priority. We shouldn't now be relying on the likes of Spearing (or Shelvey) for midfield cover. Neither will ever make it. Gerrard is a pale shadow of the player he was three years ago now injuries have taken their toll. It seems like a fantasy to think that not too long ago we had players like Alonso and Mascherano in midfield.

Anyway as long as we've got all those British lads and their banter everything will be OK......won't it?

Only because United were a little less **** than us - that is the exact reason we beat them in the FA Cup. We were nothing special, they were just shockingly bad.
Let's face facts - we are 7th cos we deserve to be. What ****s me off is that **** Scum team is challenging for the title where they CLEARLY shouldn't be due to most teams just taking it up the arse when they play Manure & not even bothering ffs!
And for the 1st time in a long time we were one of those teams on Saturday as much as I hate to say it...
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

I disagree about 7th being what we deserve

We've clearly deserved more out of many games this season and havent got it whether due to good goalkeeping or poor finishing

Generally our play has been more deserving of 3 points in many of those games we have drawn

As for being a team that sits back and accepts defeat, Saturdays peformance was poor but lets not paint it in any way shape or form as bad as the ****e served up by Roy

Lets face it despite playing poorly United still only scored because of mistakes rather than any great skill
