Two things to take from the first half..

1. They can do anything they want while defending a set piece and Mariner won't bat an eye.. For our 2nd goal there player, on the floor mind, had both hand on Carroll's waist and pulled him down.. Its getting beyond a joke.

2. We don't get enough players in the box in open play, Downing's chance there was nobody for 18 yards, watch Carrolls movement. Well he stands still on the edge of the box for a good 10 seconds, not good enough.

He does that all the time which is the reason why he is almost always late for the crosses.

Really would like to see him not been knocked around so much. He needs to be more physical and stop complaining. Mariner will not call any penalties for pushing and shoving in the box.

I think it's because Carroll wants to get a run on the ball; from his time at Newcastle the delivery was often floated in, allowing him to run from deep to attack the ball - he tries to do something similar with us, but balls from the right are whipped in (when his movement looks static) or the ball hits the first man if from the left.
