Thought Shelvey was impressive, the confidence in the lad just keeps going, you can see it as soon as he picks the ball up, he knows he can pick someone out

Suso was impressive and BR will definitely take note.

Sterling was trying to do too much (apart from the goal), no doubt he's talented, but just because he's good at dribbling doesnt mean every time he gets the ball he has to take a man on.

On a side note, heard this today and it instantly reminded me of a Mostar vid

        A bit OTT isn't it?

We didn't get much width from our FB's which surprised me, especially in the first half. Not so sure how Enrique will do in Rodger's system, he needs to use the ball better. Auelio would have been perfect for BR.
Pretty much agree with all of this.

Thought Spearing looked good and I do like Shelvey too. Both played well yesterday but different players.

Enrique is a strange one. He was **** for the first three years at Newcastle, he was good when they were in the Championship and he had a very good season back in the PL when they were promoted and was a beast for us in his first six months at the club.

He's been poor since February though and again yesterday I didn't think he was all that (pre-season of course )

Aurelio is class. His injury record is criminal. Such a shame.

Roma looked great today against Zaglebie Lubin, winning 4-0. They played a lot of their first team; we may not have much fun at Fenway.

He looks so at ease pinging the ball about one touch. It will be really interesting to see if he pushes on this year. Could be a very important player sooner rather than later.

Some stats from a Daily Fail article about the game

To see how much onus Rodgers puts on keeping the ball, consider these statistics.

Jamie Carragher had a perfect pass completion rate of 50 out of 50, 33 of Alberto Aquilani’s 34 passes found the target, while Jay Spearing picked out his man 46 times from a possible 49.

Rodgers said that the English players coming back tomorrow wont be ready for Roma or not even the 1st leg of the Europa league, what gives ?

I just finished watching Chavs friendly v PSG in NY and both Cole & Terry were playing.
How come our lads wont be ready for at least the Spurs next Saturday.

I think it's because they've been back earlier than ours. Our lot come back today I think.
                      Are we winning?

Hey? The euro players are entitled to 4 weeks off regardless of who they play for & when the other players return from their holidays surely?

                          *

There’s some*discrepancy*in the stats reported on MLSSoccer.com as they’ve stated 660 passes but when the stats were added up on the Chalkboards it stated 712. Not sure what to think about that but the passing stats are still very impressive.

It was a friendly game but Liverpool haven’t managed over 700 passes since playing Bolton on Boxing Day in 2008 (via @SteMc74). Jamie Carraghar and Jose Enrique completed the most accurate passes whilst Jose played the most passes in a game. It’s a given in Brendon Rodgers’ sides that the defenders see a lot of the ball. You will find that Swansea’s defenders attempted the most passes in their side. They keep the ball and pass side to side frustrating their opponents as seen in this game where Liverpool kept almost 70% of the possession.

Raheem Sterling not only impressed creatively but he was involved in the most tackles in the game winning 80% of them. Danny Wilson was the other stand out winning all three of his tackles.

Raheem Sterling created once chance and attained one assist therefore becoming the most creative in the game. The part in the goal was excellent and hopefully a sign of things to come from the teenager.

A few Chalkboards from the game:

Impressive passing from Liverpool as stated in our tweet below (click on the images above to enlarge):

That can't be right, surely? I know if a player retrieves a poor pass then it still counts as a completed pass, but I'm sure Jose completely missed a couple.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I don't think he did. His passing was spot on. But he pissed around on the ball a couple of times and lost it in dangerous positions, much like the second half of last season

                                Nice.

There is no way I'll have time to watch the whole match.

Reading some of the bits and pieces, is it fair to say that while posession is highly impressive, is the cutting edge a bit of a worry?
                                Oh I don't know.
