I disagree. He's not scored a blockbuster yet, but toward the end of that half he was starting to really push at them at least. He's not been great - for Gerrard - but he's been better than Adam.

Henderson is missing on the right as usual but Gerrard is playing too deep at the moment to have any sort of impact

Entire midfield is playing too passively and there is no right link up with Carroll and Suarez.

Downing head and shoulders our best player in that half. There was an interesting reaction from Downing to Enrique demanding the ball off him out on the left towards the end of the half, he looked a bit pissed off like he wanted to run with it but Enrique took it away from him.

and yes fair play to downing, he's been very lively down the left. hoping for the same second half, but need more players to raise their game.

Just seen the goal again, Agger come out to the ball leaving a man in, who Enrique doesn't track. If there were a proper DM in there that wouldn't have happened IMO

In the build up thread I made the same point but in fairness we were very unlucky.

Both Skrtel,clearing the ball and Pepe defending the shot should have done it better.

if we're going to replace a striker it should be Suarez.

not expecting him to be at his brilliant best in every single final, but imo he's been well off the pace, and nowhere as influential as you'd want or expect.

adam's mainly had to sit and hold the midfield with gerrard more advanced. if he was pushing forward, people would be criticising him for ignoring his defensive duties.

We'll not have any space in which to work in the final third though and will be reliant on a) a mazy Suarez run, b) a long ranger from Gerrard or Adam or c) a corner/pelanty

Downing is constantly trying to do 1-2 touch pass with Enrique and Enrique is "refusing" to do that.

He really holds onto the ball too long.
