how many on here would take another season similar to this? or how many would take 5th having missed out by a point and getting no trophies? or winning all out home games yet winning none away?

I would given any of the options, I have patience and belief in the boss. Too many on here seem to be so reactionary (unlike out attackers on the field), if we'd played the same and kelly scores, everybody is delighted. we get caught and they score, its knifes out. football is football, you don't always get what you deserve, yet if you keep going, keep doing the right things, you normally gets things turning in your favour. I wouldn't bet against it all clicking next season.

Agree with you Bobby and it scares the **** out of me, why?

Winning trophies is the be all and end all of this ****. Who cares for 4th, we've still got the FA cup to look forward to.
      Are we winning?

I know we're missing Stevie, Agger and Lucas but we played well again.

That poll a while back comparing Torres and Suarez makes me laugh. He's good but nowhere near a regular goalscorer.

People laughed when I said Coates should've been in the team today. And what I would give for a Darren Bent or Defoe right now.

Ah well, at least we have a season of Thursdays and Sundays to look forward to next year.

Am I the only one who thought that bringing out the Carling Cup beforehand was a bit small time?

The situation with Carroll is an odd one. He has been playing well and to be honest I was expecting him to play today. That said we seem to play a more fluid system without him, (although this isn't necessarily his fault). I've said this before but I don't think Suarez is a main striker, his would be better is a support or wide role. Kuyt works hard but again doesn't spend enough time in the box, Carroll is the only one that really does this. I'd like to see us stick with the Suarez and Carroll partnership for the rest of the season so we have an idea if it's going to work long term. That said we definately need a striker in the summer who can put the ball in the net.

Winning Carling Cup and getting to 6th round of FA Cup is great achievement but like Bellamy said I'd take CL spot over that as CL football was the target at the beginning of the season and winning League Cup is just a bonus.

CL spot means playing against the best teams in the world and that is what best players stride for and until we get there we will have tough time attracting top talent and will have to pay over the odds for our new signings.

I think it was because it was caught on the Sky camera's. If it was a Saturday, 3pm kick off, people on here would be non-the-wiser.

I think they just want to show the fans the trophy at Anfield.

Surely it's better to grab a bit of silverware than getting 4th? In an ideal world we'd take all but it's not.

We did same under Houllier and Rafa before we started competing for the league. I think that's the natural progression for any team. We need to relax a bit IMO. ****ing gutted by today's result but we need to keep the faith.

it really doesn't. at a push you get one decent team in your group. that competition only really comes to life at the knockout stage. how about 2 groups of 8 and the top 2 of each form the semi finals.

There are some **** teams in the CL. The first rounds are incredibly boring and it gets interesting in the latter stages IF all the best teams come through. It's a glorified FA cup IMO.

I see Suarez as a McManaman type player creates lots of chances, gets into decent positions but doesn't score anywhere near the amount of goals he should. What we need is a Fowler type player to Suarez' McManaman, someone who has a great understanding of his game and will make himself available to put the ball in the net when Suarez gets into decent positions.
