we bossed the midfield for most of the game matt. its the forwards positions we're struggling in. luis is great but in that role up front its all about goals. van persie didn't do a lot and grabs two goals. luis ran his arse off and got nothing.

lot of over reaction again here. if you can't score pens you're in trouble. simple. time and again we **** it up.

And not just the penalty if we could have finished 2-3 of our other big chances...

the league cup really does mean nothing if we can't use it to kick on. a spot in the uefa league is not much consolation for our league form this season.

We're not that far away despite our league position and a league cup is still better than nothing.

Henderson and Downing have been awful signings. We had the opportunity to spend money on those wide positions and really take the team forward to a new level, but instead we wasted it on two mental midgets who can't handle the pressure.

With exception of Suarez and Enrique (don't count Bellamy as he was freebie) all our signings since FSG took over were poor.

Some on here were laughing at Arsenal at the start of the season, they turning out better than us after selling their best players.

It's not just about today, we are still miles of the pace and have been pretty average all season. It's a game like this that if we won might have given us a false lift but deep down I think we all know we are far from CL quality at the moment and if you don't, you are deluded.

at 8m adam isn't a good buy? really? ****ing hell he's repaid that easily. could he be better? of course. but take away his assists and we'd have no goals.

We would have won this if we had one less injured player. Johnson would have made the most difference for me.

We REALLY need to buy a top class striker and more pacy players for next season.

We did, we are very good at controlling the ball, the problem is we had 3 league goals from our midfield all season. We flatter to deceive. Luis did run his arse off, but how many real chance did we create for him?

He's a one of the few match winners we actually have and he's sat on the bench

We just need to carry on building. Why "cut our losses"? Are these players a liability to our team? Buy more quality players and keep them to form the basis of a good squad.

Aye, we're not too far away but it's the same old story we've seen over the last few years of lacking a cutting edge in these games. Dirks finishing is ****ing woeful at times and Adam drifted out the game as usual. We ****ing desperately need a proper world class finisher.

The problem is not really the price but that he is good squad player but he shouldn't be playing week in and week out.

He is just not good enough for the starting job.
