I do think that Maxi has been badly under used - although for my money he should be used on the opposite flank to Downing. His runs into the box were a real boon last season. Unlike the rest of our midfield he consistently showed how to make good runs from deep into the area.

True, but that doesn't change the fact that Maxi has been extremely unused despite the fact we need goals and he can score and takes up much better positions.

We need much better players period as they don't offer enough quality and none of those mentioned would make it into the team of top 5 clubs.

I'd like to see that team too - I'd prefer to see Coates than Carragher and nobody seems to be mentioning Carra (is he injured?) if not I can see KK playing him instead of Coates and I would not be suprised to see Bellamy / Kuyt instead of Maxi.

He has only had 6 league games mate, with a 1 in 3 scoring rate and we have varied our formation from the one he was successful in too.

I would be tempted to put Flanagan in and put Kelly in the centre. Coates not ready, Carra is too mistake prone these days.
