Overall play yes, we never made chances as good as Gerrard's 2nd and 3rd goals against Arsenal though.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostTake away Gerrard finishing off our chances and I think we were better against Arsenal personally.. Just goes to show, a finisher and we'd not be talking about so many poor results. Over the course of the season the performances have been there but until we get a goalscorer we're gonna be inconsistent.
Good performance, we controlled the derby, kept cool heads.. Credit to the players they stepped up when it was needed.

Look at the chances at 3min (double for Kuyt), 4.50 (Henderson and Suarez double chance), 6.30 Suarez self created, Kuyt 7min, Kelly 7.27 and those are just the big chances we created, just as good and some even better than Gerrard's.

Don't agree, penalty is different, but Gerrards 2nd and 3rd were on a real plate for him in a way none of those others were.Originally posted by Darkon View Postlivermotdd - Video Dailymotion

They weren't as easy as Gerrard's though, not be a long shot. Henderson should have probably done better and didn't get off a good shot, but it wasn't the ideal angle and Suarez's chance wasn't easy because of the angle and the defender. Kelly's came to him very quick making it much more difficult.Originally posted by Darkon View PostOkay take away the penalty, and you still have the rest as big chances served. Especially Henderson's and Suarez double chance and Kelly's chance was HUGE!

We just see it very differently then, when I look at the replays I see some very big chances missed and some much bigger than Gerrard's second yesterday that was really well kicked. We lost against Arsenal because we were much less ruthless than against Everton last night, we had more and even some better chances than against Everton the way I see it.
As an active player myself, I can easily say that I would much rather have Kuyt's and Kelly's chances than I would Gerrard's second.

It was well kicked, but he was free and 6 yards out, they are situations that imo we haven't gotten into most of the season, Gerrard's and Suarez's interplay together have allowed us that yesterday.Originally posted by Darkon View PostWe just see it very differently then, when I look at the replays I see some very big chances missed and some much bigger than Gerrard's second yesterday that was really well kicked. Btw yesterday I pointed out the conversion rates for chances created from Henderson and Downing last season, it is slightly lower than our conversion rate. I think that could be relevant.
156 chances created 11 assists = 7% conversion rate.
Not saying this is the reason btw, but it could be a culprit.Last edited by Mattshark; 14-03-12, 05:53 PM.
