He did great for those few minutes he played last week but he is a young lad that really needs to be carefully managed especially at this age and I trust Kenny's view here.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostWhy give Sterling 10 minutes and when he looks good not give him another chance?! Gutted he's not on the bench really wanted to see him play.
Better side than past games though, although there isnt much to play for.
Also if you look at our bench it would be tough for him to make it there anyway as we do have an extra winger available, which wasn't the case last week.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

Ditching the cliches, what does this actually mean?Originally posted by Mostar View PostHe did great for those few minutes he played last week but he is a young lad that really needs to be carefully managed especially at this age.

It means imo that he is 17 years old kid that has very fragile built and imo is not ready for physical aspect of PL on more regular basis just yet.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostDitching the cliches, what does this actually mean?
Playing him too soon and too much can affect (and slow down) his development in negative way.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I think we are putting too high and unrealistic expectations on this kid.Originally posted by Gibbo9 View PostImo managing him well would be reawrding him with more playing time because he played well, its the same with the random drops of Carroll after he has a good game.
Its not as if hes going to play Maxi anyway.
He is not "Messiah" yet but he could be in few years from now if he is carefully eased in rather then being rushed.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I still dont really get it, TBH. I know what points you're making, but i fail to see how they relate to the prospect of Sterling being on the bench and maybe getting 10-20 minutes.Originally posted by Mostar View PostIt means imo that he is 17 years old kid that has very fragile built and imo is not ready for physical aspect of PL on more regular basis just yet.

8 minutes last week and 10-20 mins today would hardly represent an onslaught of PL football in a short space of time. Likewise, i'm not sure how badly giving him 10-20 mins today would affect or slow down his development. On the contrary, putting him into that environment, if done properly, can aid his development significantly.
So yeah, i still dont understand what harm it would do him to be on the bench and maybe get the latter stages of the game, in the right circumstances.

What is playing him for 8 minutes and then for maybe 10 or 15 minutes, if it isnt easing him in?Originally posted by Mostar View PostI think we are putting too high and unrealistic expectations on this kid.
