The reason why he made on the bench last week was cause Bellamy and few others were not available.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI still dont really get it, TBH. I know what points you're making, but i fail to see how they relate to the prospect of Sterling being on the bench and maybe getting 10-20 minutes.
8 minutes last week and 10-20 mins today would hardly represent an onslaught of PL football in a short space of time. Likewise, i'm not sure how badly giving him 10-20 mins today would affect or slow down his development. On the contrary, putting him into that environment, if done properly, can aid his development significantly.
So yeah, i still dont understand what harm it would do him to be on the bench and maybe get the latter stages of the game, in the right circumstances.
Kenny in his after match interview said that he didn't want to play Sterling but as he is still young kid and he was worried about how that could affect him but circumstances unfortunately led him in that direction.
Sure you can make the case either way that being on the bench and getting few minutes can help or deter a very young player's development but Sterling is one if not the biggest LFC academy prospect in years and I get that Kenny wants to make sure that he is gradually brought into the first team (even if that means giving him a chance for few minutes and then don't let him on the bench on next etc.) at the pace that he thinks is the best for this youngster.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

We're at the stage where we have 8 games left in the league, but there's not a huge amount to play for - for me, this is ideal to give kids a feel for PL football, without the pressure that normally comes with it. It's not often you get the opportunity to do this and IMO, it would be beneficial for Sterling and indeed Coates to be getting some useful game time, to help give them experience and help them grow in confidence.

Not if Kenny doesn't see him as a part of his plans for this year.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat is playing him for 8 minutes and then for maybe 10 or 15 minutes, if it isnt easing him in?
Circumstances were such last game that he got the chance as we didn't have any wide options and that is not the case today.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

I couldn't agree more with you on Coates as I still don't understand what we gain from playing Carra and not featuring Seb as the season is technically over.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWe're at the stage where we have 8 games left in the league, but there's not a huge amount to play for - for me, this is ideal to give kids a feel for PL football, without the pressure that normally comes with it. He needs playing time and to me he's already ahead of Carra in the packing order and should be playing every game until Agger is ready to come back.
Imo we will not benefit anything from playing Carra and not Coates.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
