That's down to the manager and coaches, this is were we miss a Rafa type manager with all the fine details are considered and analysed. At the moment we don't have the fine details worked out, we are even lacking some of the fundamentals

I'd like to add the fact that I think Shelvey is better than Hendo and was about £15m cheaper.

He has a lot more self belief which is something that Henderson massively lacks imo.

Shelvey's work rate is beyond pathetic. Just playing some confident hollywood passes is not all that you need to be a good top level player.

Shelvey is just another Adam in the making by the looks of it, only younger.

Most of them should be playing for their futures aside from anything else...

Logically, they should be but practically sometimes, they won't be. So, that's what is happening right now.

Having sidewards passes intercepted is just as bad if not worse.

Decision making is our main problem, followed by lack of mentality.

Because he hides in games too often, even when we are playing well he can disappear in a game. He shows no fight at all.

No point in selling Downing, he wont retain value and can be used as a squad player.

Henderson has youth and basic attributes on his side.
Not sure that I agree. For the money we spent on him he is a decent option coming from the bench but the problem is that he played too much and we relied imo on him too much this season.

                        The players that I'd sell:

                        Carroll
                        Downing
Kuyt (wages and past his best)
Maxi (wages and also past his best)

We really have problems in the midfield and upfront and imo if we really want to be on top with other big clubs we need to buy smart this window.

Need at least a CM/box-to-box, AM, a striker and one more player that can play wide but also play inside.

Just like Lucas did when he started off?

He really didn't though. Lucas got stuck in and tackled.

Sure but with Henderson, you at least get defensive stability. With Shelvey, it's alike flipping a coin and leaving it to chance

If his set pieces where to improve and he wasn't so rash in his challenges then I wouldn't see a problem with him.

We made the same mistake on Adam as we did Carroll, one good season is not enough time to judge a player, especially as the main reason we bought him was for his passing/set pieces.

I think I once referred to Adam as a poor mans Alonso, When realistically he is not good enough to lace Xabi's boots.
