This has happened at least 10 times this season. We've hit the woodwork 27 times this season. Desperately unlucky.

I'm trying to be objective here. But that to me sounds really like we're not far off from being a top 4 team. Appalling luck, and some bad finishing has conspired to scupper us.

Seems to me we create chance after chance but just cannot put it away, the upheaval in defence with Lucas & Agger missing and Carra struggling ( still a hero for me who doesn't desrve the vitriol he gets on here) means we are letting in goals, the problems in attack, Saurez cannot win a blatant free kick let alone a pen, Carroll has proved to be under the influence of his overblown price tag and cannot hit a proverbial, Adam seems to have forgotten how to play football, Downing tries too hard and is a lot better than this, and the youngsters need time but we are coming away from games dominating and yet not winning, it's just a matter of time, the tide will soon turn.

Awful first half.
Second half was pressure on pressure (if a little unfocused at times)....Villa are really ****.

you lose or draw a few games because you don't take your chances then you can call yourself unlucky. if it's the story of your season then it's not down to luck then there's something wrong.
it's not like we dominated the game and all that. they're a **** team, villa. but we were again an unorganised bunch who were lacking a game plan and who simply don't have any attacking patterns bar wishful one-two's.
luck doesn't come into it. fact is, you do make your own luck. bemoaning bad luck is what losers do if they're looking for excuses. in my book, time's up. no more excuses. we need to change the manager at the end of the season.

We completely dominated, it's got nothing to do with possession, which incidentally was 50/50 but of course you didnt know that, did you?

It's more about controlling the game and spending large portions of it in their third of the field, creating chances. Which is probably why the shot count was 20-5 in our favour and corners were 11-3.

While I agree with you, I do find it unacceptable that of those 20 shots, only five were on target. I think Villa managed three on target out of five.
