Really interesting move. Timing is strange....but something had to give after none of the signings have exactly shone besides Enrique and bellamy.

I think this reiterates that FSG are serious about getting things right, shows that they arent afraid to make the tough decisions which is good however i'd still be in favour of giving Dalglish another summer to set things striaght!

Good - not sure why he got in the position in the first place.

Maybe it makes more sense that they'd get rid of Comolli first as he was less likely to step aside in the summer.
It could also be as Henry Winter has said it shows Dalglish's power at the club

FSG appointed Comolli and one of his briefs was to keep continuity at the club in the event of changing managers. I remember that clearly they wanted the club to keep a certain identity in ther way we played and they didnt want that to change when the manager was changed

Yet he has gone and Kenny is still here

Comolli gone. That's Stewart Downing's first assist of the season.

The timing is poor but I think this is a great shout.

It`s all about FSG cutting cost before they sell the club

Maybe they're happier with the continuity/results of the changes made with Borrell and the youngsters before Comolli's arrival (which Kenny had some involvement in alongside Rafa, didnt he?)? It would be great if that is the approach they're taking as I genuinely believe it will pay dividends in the long-term if we allow it to develop.

Wasn't the club line that Kenny always had the final say on transfers?

Thinking about this you can't really blame FSG. They employ this bloke who is supposed to have an extensive network covering clubs across the world yet the first major piece of investment he is involved in (regardless of the scope of that investment) is to almost exclusively invest in players playing in the same league as his own team. It doesn't really smack of 'I know all zee players across zee world'. Truth be told FSG could have made the same decisions that the experts made last summer from just watching a few weeks of prem footy.

And the negotiations!!!! Oh the humanity
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Yes, so they pile themselves with a compensation payout for him.

does this mean another new scouting network?

yes, but that`s a one time payout, but the overall wagebill per year will go down.
