Jeez.Originally posted by peekay View PostLooks like Carra has found his journo friend.
****s me off how these deluded hacks always cite a manager's "ease with the media" as being one of the key skills. I guess in a way it has to be somewhere on the list of required attributes but the likes of Winter and the rest of them haven't half got an inflated view of their own importance. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Winter is mates with Carragher and GerrrardOriginally posted by peekay View PostLooks like Carra has found his journo friend.
Think he wrote both of their books
I actually think that is a decent view by Winter but he ****ing ruins it by making daft comments like thatBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Winter use to be really good and he will often make pertinent points in his article but they will inadvertently be litterred with agendas, cliches and downright ****ing ****eOriginally posted by NigelLG View PostI had to smile at the line ... "Moyes made Everton a successful side". Winter is awful. Safe, boring and cliché riddled piece.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. It has never worked in English football. Can't recall of a successful example. Ideally it's a role which should encompass managing the administrative side of things to help the manager but isn't it the same as chief executive? They should bin it and call in a chief exec instead.Originally posted by malg View PostWhat does a director of football actually do ?Are we winning?

Agree.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostCruyff would be another mistake. He's got a massive ego.
A disaster imho.
But so far, our ownership decision making hasn't been so good on football matters, so it could happen.
Can't help thinking that they seem to be taking the wrong advice.Last edited by Vermilion; 13-04-12, 08:14 AM.

it simply all depends on the people involved.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostIt has never worked in English football. Can't recall of a successful example. in england the manager has all the roles combined into one. but in reality there's loads of stuff who actually fill those roles with life.
there's your assisstant and the coaches who actually do all the preparation and the training, the head scouts who do all the scouting, the ceo who negotiates transfers and so and so forth. the manager more or less holds it all together and has the final say on things.
if you've got a good set-up, a clear structure and clear responsibilities and manage to get the right people in who believe in that model and i don't see why it wouldn't work in england.
but you can't put an old fashioned i'm-the-****ing-man england style manager in a dof model. that's a disaster in the making. same with a dof who actually sees himself as a manger.
