I didn't see the Adam one. But whoever told Lucas to play on after he was assessed on the sideline, is responsible for the severity of his injury. It must have been apparent that there was likely ligament damage. Playing on was only going to do one thing, make it worse. If he had been subbed at that point he would not have suffered such a serious long term injury.

It was a spectacular cock up and it should have been prevented.
The Lucas injury is a difficult one to actually diagnose immediately (or at least I remember someone on here suggesting that)

Apparently you dont feel a lot of pain with that injury you can move initially but as you do it causes more and more damage to the ligament and the knee itself

Think you've hit the nail on the head there

Intriguingly, Cruyff has no mobile, laptop, pc and has never googled in his life. So if he has read Moneyball, it won't be the ebook

I don't know, he was clearly in pain from the off and he wasn't moving too easily when he hobbled off towards the physio after the initial impact. I think even the commentator suggested it was ligament damage at that point.

One more reason why I find him somewhat reliable.

No one knows everything and even best ITKs (unless you're Dunk of course) are not informed on all matters.

I hope Kenny calls him Cruffy.

Ah right, I didn't see the Lucas one at the time. That's a monumental **** up then if they did that.

Isn't it pronounced, like 'Kowt', 'Crowf'?

With ligament damage there is instant pain and it won't move well at all and moving it does cause more damage and it needs to be put in a brace straightaway.

If you do your cartilage, you hardly get any pain as the cartilage has no blood supply. I did my cartilage a 5 weeks ago and felt no pain.

Can't say I'm excited about this, I think it will make no difference to how we perform on the pitch. He'll move on in a couple of years and none of us will ever be sure what it was he actually achieved.

                                Aye.

One of the problems in that Lucas was "Bulletproof" until then so neither him nor medical staff could have gaged properly the extent of that injury given his he-never-gets-hurt status.

I also think given the importance of that game, if it was me I am not sure that I would've done anything differently especially as I sure Lucas himself said "I'll try to run it off" not knowing the severity of the injury.

Tough one to call and I think we (Lucas) were very unlucky there.
