I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
    Mine angry and defrauded young?

if our league form continues on a downward spiral till the end of the season even a fa cup win might not be enough for Dalglish

West Brom: I expect a hostile Anfield reception - Roy Hodgson on his Liverpool FC return

ROY Hodgson is expecting a hostile reception when he returns to Anfield on Sunday.

The Albion boss spent six months at Liverpool before losing his job at the end of 2010.

Hodgson was unpopular on Merseyside, not only due to indifferent results, but also because of the overwhelming demand for Kenny Dalglish to be appointed manager.

Liverpool’s owners at the time opted for Hodgson over Dalglish – a decision which did not go down well with the Reds supporters.

Dalglish ended up becoming Liverpool boss in January 2011, with Hodgson pitching up at The Hawthorns one month later.

The 64-year-old is not expecting a particularly warm welcome.

Asked whether he expected a good reception, Hodgson said: “I don’t know. I wouldn’t have thought so. There is no reason to give me a good reception because they didn’t like me when I was there, so I can’t see they’re going to like me now.

“There aren’t that many people I worked with that are still there.

“It will be quite nice to see one or two of the players who I worked with.

“People like (director of football) Damien Comolli have moved on.

“There aren’t so many colleagues outside of the playing staff and the kitmen that I’ll know – and it will be nice to see them again.”

Albion were the opposition when Liverpool won their first game under Hodgson in August 2010.

But he rightly points out that Dalglish’s Liverpool side have changed beyond all recognition, despite taking just five wins at Anfield this season.

And he expects them to still be on a high following their FA Cup semi-final victory over Everton.

“I’m sure they’ll be in a buoyant mood,” he continued.

“But their home form has not been that good so, in actual fact, I think they’ll be concentrating on the game in order to get three points in the league and make sure they get as close to the fourth spot as they can.

“I don’t see the FA Cup success having any bearing other than it will make them more confident and it will maybe take a little bit of pressure from them in terms of the game.

“Had they lost the cup semi-final then all the attention would have been on their home record, which hasn’t been great this season.

“An awful lot of players have been brought in since that game at Anfield last season but I do think it was a good West Brom performance that day.”

Another game before a big FA Cup game at our worst ground in the premiership (Anfield)? Another loss I'm afraid. Hodgson's going to enjoy ths win as it will put him one point closer to overtaking us.

let's not, as the FA may take the chants seriously.
